I'm sorry you're treated this way, despite all which you do for your family. It's not your fault but thank you for your sympathy <3 I'm just hoping for some advice on how to handle my dad's issues. I'm currently in therapy but I only just started so not see how affective it is. Or what I can do in ...

Maybe your dad can't help the way he is especially with Bipolar , OCD & PTSD , maybe what you see as hypocrisy is actually his way of looking out for his girl? ( just a suggestion ) Also I think boys always get treated differently to girls and it also depends who is the oldest as well ( is he y...

I end up doing so by hiding in my room. Then I get labeled a "mooch" by my parents. Sadly, I am not finically stable nor do I have the means to move out until I finish my degree and teaching credential. I do not make enough to support myself and move out. :/

I'm not sure if this is the right place to post this but I thought I'd still ask. I'm wondering how you all deal with hypocrites / how to stop yourself from going insane around them and how they act. The reason I am asking is because my dad is a huge mother****** hypocrite. Part of this is due to hi...

I will say I got 1-5 all my life (even without a diagnosis) and it sucks. There are times where I will talk about a student with co workers but 9 times out of 10 it's out of the room. The one percent is when we're discussing how to handle a particular behavior that the child is exhibiting. If the st...

To answer op's original question, yes. I like to quote things from sci-fi shows I've seen and I still get the same excited feelings that I feel when I first heard it. [ex. "Shiny" from Firefly, I still get butterfly type feelings in my stomach] "Shiney" still makes me feel happy...

I'm sorry to hear that you are having such a rough time. I know my own high school experience was hell because I struggled with making friends. I also was dealing with parents similar to yours (I still am, thanks craptastic economy). As for my advice: 1. Find a group that meets that pertains to one ...

I've noticed the more excited I get, the louder I get. I'm not sure how to fix this. I've been told by everyone I'm too loud, so I just keep to myself more often than not.

I do not see my dad actually participating in my therapy or helping with it as I am not following "his way" of overcoming issues (reading my Bible and praying even though I do the second) and my focus should be on letting his own issues go/ glossing over the hurt he causes with them. This...

Emma, there has been research on the reliability of self-diagnoses which found a high level of accuracy. I wasn't aware of that. ^^; I just get defensive as I feel as if someone is saying that the research I've done into my own self diagnosis (along with others on this site)isn't valid / worth less...

The one I struggle with (and I'm not sure if this goes for ASD women) is the touching and cuddling thing that NT women tend to do. I'm not sure when it's okay or not okay to do (even though I like being hugged or hugging my friends when I know its okay). Granted, I'm gay, so that adds a whole other ...

For people like myself who can not afford the costs of testing and who have researched Asperger's / Autism thoroughly ( I've been reading up on the subject on and off for 6 years, really diving into it in the past year after my friend got diagnosed with Asperger's). From what I've read, the tests I'...

Not a fan of DnD specifically, but I'm a huge fan of pen & paper roleplaying. For years I gamemastered Star Wars (first Revised Core Rulebook then SAGA ), but then during college I lost my group. I'm just now getting into it again, but I've become a big fan of rules-light, narrative driven syst...
