Welcome to WP. I agree with Spaceplayer, if you obtain a diagnosis do it for yourself, and having a diagnosis, official or otherwise, may not help you in relationships. I told several close friends that I think I have AS. They were perfectly comfortable thinking I had anxiety, depression, and gener...

I've moved around a lot in my life and felt no special connection with any of the places I've passed through. Neither do I, but there IS a nostalgic component, and my memories are not perfect with a lot of detail. And HECK, it would be interesting to see how things have changed. Besides, it could c...

In addition to bringing Asperger's syndrome–related issues to the fore, this short story was meant to parody self-consciously modern literature. Many writers like to add allusions to other works or aspects of culture, jamming it into their writing as if to signal to the reader, "I'm so smart and we...

I was going to say the same thing myself. I HATE the way the english language has changed since I was a kid. It used to be somewhat precise, and my area aspired to try and speak properly. TODAY, it is FAR from precise, and some people aspire to speak IMPROPERLY! I still remember being asked to speak...

I think that Aspies of both Genders have it equally as hard, and for different reasons. Women are supposed to be femminine at all times. I don't know about the rest of you Ladies, but I find it very hard to be femminine. Men are supposed to be tough and macho. Most of the male Aspies that I've know...

As for paranoid, I HAVE been mistreated a lot, and DO know people say bad things behind my back. Surprisingly, the SAME people sometimes say GOOD things behind my back. So I am not 100% negative, and I don't merely THINK it. How is that paranoia? Even the obsessive compulsive I would say is moderat...

I don't have the "lack of imagination" that people with AS are supposed to have. But I suspect that whoever said that people with AS are supposed to lack imagination was / is an idiot. Certainly you must know there have been several threads here about that already. Almost everyone, if not everyone,...

I travel a lot. Frankly, I do ok with most people. I don't even much care about the language.

I DO have sensory skewing, and personal space though.
