I PRIDED myself on not lying! It was a long time before I lied, though I easily could have. I forget when I first did, but I think it was on one of those weird situations where it was demanded that I answer a question yes or no, and it was NOT a yes or no question. A couple questions back,a boss ask... |

One thing schools NEVER tell you is that you really need an idea of what you want to do BEFORE you go to say highschool. I was lucky. I figured it out before I was even 5yo! Before I finished highschool I figured that my first goal(ELECTRONICS) was not as great as a new field that I watched, as it w... |

I think the average government response, if following the law, etc.... would be to turn you down. Keep reading, I have a better idea.... There ARE a LOT of things that can make a person lose touch with reality. You could have an allergy, be poisoned, have a deficiency, there could be a cycle somepla... |

I'm high functioning enough to living on my own. I'm classic enough to need some supports. I'm a real-life Sgt. Schultz so to speak. There could be someone more classic but also more intelligent than I am. That person would be more like Rain Man. I went to school with a boy like that. Him and I wer... |

[quote="utterly absurd"]A lot of things interest me but none of them really reach the "special" category. I used to spend a lot of time photographing and categorizing lamps, but that interest has waned and nothing has replaced it. I feel kind of empty now. When I have free time I... |

Today i played tag with a kid i know, and i ran on top a dog toy barefoot that cut my foot. I picked up the dog toy, moved it out of the way, and kept running. I didn’t really notice the injury till probably 8 minutes later “oh hey there’s bl**d on the floor”. Are delayed reactions to pain common i... |

I have savant syndrome.I have hypercalculia and a edetic memory. Are there any other savants out there and what specific skill do you have? Well, when I was younger, school mates would come to me and ask me about tests teachers were giving, I could tell them what I likely got, the questions asked, an... |

Classical Autism, when I was a kid, was called AUTISM! Around the 1980s, maybe because of AS, they realized that some people had deficits that could maybe be fixed, or at least explained, such that they could have a more normal life. Because of that, they came up with TWO new types of diagnosis. Fir... |

Joe90, I like some of what you said in your first post. Here is what I have tried..... - Listen to other people's problems and see everything in a reasonable and fair perspective - Be helpful and selfless when you can, like donate or volunteer for charity, help out the homeless, etc. - Don't think t... |

So, I keep hearing about autistic people not understanding figures of speech, but it perplexes me. If someone says, "Never look a gift horse in the mouth", wouldn't everyone need to have that phrase explained to them in order to understand it, particularly if they've never heard it before... |

I probably shouldn't say this but prior to about the 1980s, Autistic was a VERY narrow spectrum as far as people were concerned. I bet most people on this site would NOT fit it. You can take that as a compliment, BTW! Alex Plank certainly wouldn't! I wouldn't. I looked at early descriptions of AS, a... |

As long as I can remember, I've been very static i.e. I often give people and things a mild electric shock when I touch them. I was even told not to touch the card readers in one job I had because I kept shorting them. I wondered if it's just me or some autism thing and we all do it. :batman: OK, i... |

OK, I was going to answer this another way, but I will simply give a little advice for the above critique you gave yourself..... 1. MANY have weird personalities, and you never really know. It is best to simply NOT assume, but try to fit in somewhat. 2. Never having a girlfriend isn't THAT bad, but ... |
