Some questions: Are you of the opinion that male cartoon characters can't be role models for girls? If not, why? Sometimes they can be, but if all of the role models are boys, and all of the pathetic characters are girls (or the vast majority), then what does it tell the kids? If you want to emulat... |

If she does genuinely remember that, I think her mental stability is in question. Who remembers being shot at when in fact they were not being shot at? That would be a pretty strong and particular detail about any memory. That's how memory works - it's really easy to fabricate one. Lots of people h... |

I can't even figure out when I'm supposed to say 'hello' to someone. First? Second? Does it have to do with social dominance? If so, whom am I supposed to see as dominant? Should I fake it if someone I don't respect is technically in a higher position...? Why so much concern about social hierarchy?... |

Everything *anyone* says is what they 'think.' Saying 'I think' or 'I believe' is a cushion that is literally unnecessary but socially relevant. http://franklyspeakingnews.com/2014/12/qualifiers-and-tentative-speech/ Eh, I think tone is more important than you're giving credit for, especially if yo... |

there's a difference between a drive and a perspective. i said "an emotional perspective" (or something to that effect. i don't remember the exact wording). "logic is the beginning of wisdom", while emotion is what drives the search (and is also the end goal in itself, because l... |

Being racist and sexist is completely antithetical to being liberal and pro social justice. Yes and no. Being proudly so is antithetical; being so in some factors is part of being raised in this country, marinated in (for example) tv shows that portray black people as sidekicks or thugs and women a... |

https://i.redd.it/mk5zsrl6hfex.jpg what do you think about Hillary calling for Obama's assassination in 2008? she didn't call for Obama's assassination; she pointed out that he might be assassinated, which frankly a lot of us feared at the time. I was only about 80% sure that he'd survive his own i... |

It's semantically necessary. ^^note that you did not use any qualifiers or weakeners in this statement.. If you express an opinion without these, it is assumed that you feel that you are absolutely right, and all other people are absolutely wrong. ...and the only qualifier ^here^ is 'if,' which is ... |

looking at statistics and talking about the meaning and effects of statistics counts as "looking at the situation itself". Sometimes  ...but responding to someone in a tone suggesting that "they're the enemy", when they've actually been agreeing all along for the most part... |

i make it a point to insert words like "i think", "i guess", "i suppose", "i imagine", but it starts to sound artificial, and some people find it suspicious or annoying. heh... that's how women are "supposed" to speak. Transwomen, for example, have ... |

Of course humans in general are sometimes irrational, sometimes emotional, etc; it does not follow that all, or even most, women are more irrational or emotional than men, much less that the OP or any specific female poster is irrational or emotional. to be honest i can't tell if you're saying that... |

I just don't believe that rape is normalized in this culture. There's lots of insensitivity towards rape victims...true. Absolutely. But we're still not a "rape culture." The vast vast majority of guys don't go around raping people. They believe it's an abomination, like I believe it's an... |
