Check out the book In A Different Key. It's the story of Autism. The first real study was on Donald Triplett in the US around the 40s. There is evidence of Autism prior to then, as it's always been here. It was often understood as Schizophrenia and other mental health problems. Some people, includin...

I have also remembered she presented me a Where's Wally style picture of a beach with people on it. She said it was to provoke or remind me of any holidays I had been on. I said it reminded me of Spain. She asked where in Spain and I said I didn't know. I said I didn't like it very much and she aske...

Yesterday I completed the ADOS-2 Module 4, which was the last thing I had to do as part of my assessment under the diagnostic services with the NHS. I have about 2 weeks to wait until I should receive the report, which I am guessing is the diagnosis / non-diagnosis. The assessment has generally been...

I know NTs who are asexual. I am an Aspie who is hypersexual, so I am not entirely sure if sexuality / sexual desires are linked.

Sub 1yrs. I had a very profound vocabulary at a very young age. As a mother, we note that when a child can say a recognisable word / a made up word that he or she repeats in context, then that is the beginning of speech. How it progresses is another matter. My youngest is nearly 2 and only just talk...

I look older, although people are often surprised I have 2 children. I never get asked for ID. I'm 24.

I find it harder. There is more expected of me as am adult, particularly as a mother. I go to toddler groups and I talk to people but mostly I stand and observe without joining in because I just don't get it. As a child I didn't have many friends at all, but that was okay because I didn't really wan...

What? My experience is even if women are in birth control they still want condoms. It doesn't even effect their pleasure unlike men. There's also for her pleasure condones which hurt male pleasure more while increasing the woman's. Female here. I hate condoms. They feel disgusting during sex for me...

I have when I was inpatient after a suicide attempt. Didn't know I have Aspergers at the time. In hindsight I can see it was a meltdown. I had a nurse on 1:1 observations at all times and I felt completely invaded. I was not talking very much which I presume is selective mutism. I just remember smas...

Males: 5, females: more than I can remember. I have been married to my husband for 4 years now and have been in long term relationships. If I hadn't have retained relationships then I would ideally be sleeping with someone new every night. I consider myself to be very highly sexed.

Thanks for your response Voxish. I had read there was a comorbidity between EDs and ASD. Thankfully I am nearly done with my assessment. I have had about 5hrs of conversation and am doing the ADOS mod 4 (I presume) on the 19th September. I have been under MH services for years and have been telling ...

Were you misdiagnosed before mental health services realised you are on the spectrum? I'm currently in the process of assessment under the NHS and was told 6 years ago by a private child psychologist that I have Asperger's. The assessment is gruelling and there's a chance I might not be diagnosed as...

I am currently under assessment and have been told I'll be completing the ADOS assessment on 19th September. I have some Aspie friends who have recently been diagnosed who didn't have to do the assessment. We are under the same services. Why do I need to do it if they didn't? What are they looking f...

Hi, I'm a 24yr old female with comorbid unspecified Bipolar type II, BPD (I would argue I no longer fit large chunks of the diagnostic criteria), eating disorder unspecified and anxiety. I am married and I have 2 young children. I understand the difficulties in diagnosing Aspergers in those with MH ...
