This is more of me just mulling over things and getting my thoughts out. I think that I may have been fighting too much for control of things. Control that I don't have. When I was a kid I cried a lot but I just kind of accepted that I had no control over things. People would tell me that's why ever...

As I posted about, here, in November of 2013. Science is slowly catching up to my experience, findings, and hypotheses. I’ve learned several things since but have yet to really write about them - some minor details, some significant experiences that confirmed a few things. Someday I’ll write an upd...

I have no idea where to get weights. But I did have the idea of just sewing in regular rocks into a blanket. They obviously don't weigh as much as lead, but if you have a thick enough blanket, and enough rocks, wouldn't it be possible to achieve a similar effect? This is true. Perhaps marbles or so...

When people would ask me why I didn't talk, I'd always reply, "I don't have anything to say." When I tried to talk, they would often interrupt me, completely drown out what I was saying. Often people are mostly listening for their own voice in a conversation. OP - One thing that helps is ...

There is an interesting test here: https://www.onlineassessmenttool.com/which-lorna-wing-type-are-you/assessment-19139 I just took it, and my result is: 60% Aloof 30% Passive 10% Active but odd Before the test, I would have said "aloof, with a slight bit of passive mixed in", so it seems ...

Yeah I get it. Took forever to leave my parents house. Mom had no interest in helping me stand on my own two legs. Took months to get a job.

I experience this as well. I didn't recognize it for what it was until recently when I went to a funeral and couldn't understand a word that was said on stage. There was background music playing and the pastor was speaking in a rhythmic style and I suddenly realized that although I could recognize ...

I read a couple studies about ASD and independent living and it doesn’t look good. Only about 25% of young adults with ASD manage to live independently. 50% had never worked for pay. Does anyone here live independently? If so, how is it? What struggles do you face? Personally, the thought of never ...

I have this problem too. It's called auditory processing disorder. For me, I have the most trouble when there are other noises besides one person talking - if other people are talking or there's enough "background noise," I can't filter the person's voice out from the other noises very we...

I have an issue where I can hear people's voices but have to ask themselves to repeat themselves 2 or 3 times or sometimes until they're so frustrated they get mad. I have had many hearing tests in my life time and always pass with flying colors. Like I said I hear their voices speaking but cannot a...
