That sounds like a good idea, it also sounds as if you are getting on/feel comfortable with her. I'm going to say congratulations, not because great your Autistic, but because getting an answer is a good start to anything. Thanks! I know what you mean. Having an answer is indeed a good feeling. I t...

Had my second appointment today, finished my formal evaluation (it was one), and received an autism diagnosis. Even though my initial response was "I figured", she talked to me a little bit about the stages of grief I might experience as I come to terms with the official diagnosis, then to...

I really struggle with executive functioning and it can be so frustrating. Tasks I have to do get avoided and put off if they are unfamiliar or feel overwhelming regardless of how necessary they really are and the more I do this, the more even thinking about them makes me anxious and panic to the p...

I grew up being told I was "gifted", but I also related to the comment about being an adult reincarnated as a kid. I've also always thought I had more of an "animal brain" because of my connection to animals and heightened sense of awareness in my surroundings.

I look at the ground when I walk, too, otherwise I frequently trip over any little thing. No one has ever said anything specific about my walking, but I personally feel like I have an odd gait. I've noticed, though, that I do walk more "normally" when I'm carrying something heavy in each h...

Just wanted to check in since I had my initial appointment yesterday. It was a comfortable office and the psychologist made me feel welcome, so I was able to talk a lot. I even talked about how I'd seen someone else in that office 14 years ago as a teenager and how I didn't talk about anything in th...

I've certainly had my share of issues with hypersensitivity to clothes. I'm having a hard time imagining how it would feel to be hyposensitive to them. What's it like?

I've tried, really I have!, to adapt to this manacle but I cannot. I have sensitive skin and react with itching, rashes, or worse to many products. I am so uncomfortable having some substance sitting on my skin or eyes. I also tend to rub, scratch, touch my face so often it's a nightmare. I have gi...

I can relate to it a lot. I think I remember seeing this and a few similar videos a while back while researching autism, and the whole "putting on a mask" thing was one of the big things that finally made it really hit me that I was probably autistic. Unfortunately(?) since really looking...

Horses are my longest-running special interest. I used to work at a place with draft horses and one of my coworkers used to jokingly warn class participants not to ask me about different kinds of driving bits unless they wanted a full 40 minute dissertation on the subject.

When I was little, I used to make my parents fold the ends of my socks up over my toes before stuffing them in my shoes so the seam wouldn't be against the fronts of my toes. I also wore only sweatpants/leggings - basically just pants with elastic waistbands - to elementary school until probably 4th...

Tucker, Thanks for posting! Are you seeing a Psychologist currently? My first appointment is next Monday! 8O A hobby farm sounds great, I would love to do that (in a very small way). Do you have chickens? Yep, chickens, horses, turkeys right now that we're going to eat for Thanksgiving! Ducks and d...

I found guided meditations helped me work through some of these feelings. Your post is a good reminder for me to go back to doing them, because the feelings have been creeping in again lately. I used a podcast series called Pathway to Happiness, but you have to pay for it. I'm sure there are other f...
