I have an issue not knowing if someone is serious or kidding, when it's directed TO ME. This doesn't mean 100% of the time, though, and there are times when immediately after taking it seriously, I realize they were joking. But I can easily pick up on third-party sarcasm. I get it all the time on sh...

Some neurotypics could relate to these traits about trends and pop culture. I know typical autistic people in my country who have become interested in fashion to "fit in" and a man whose stylist is his profession ( he was diagnosed at the age of 8 ) in a fashion house. He had a good caree...

I'm glad you included those. I wonder how many regular readers here would say "yes" to every single one of those (except the small talk one; that should be a definite "no"). Every single business meeting I've ever been in started out with small talk. If it was on the job, it didn...

I'd be tempted to contact the producer and ask WTF. If only I had his email. I've actually wanted to contact producers and directors or whatever for the incompetent way their shows are run, figuring they might be on Instagram. Occasionally I get lucky. For example I left a searing note on a narrato...

you seem to have nutshelled it perfectly. all i can say is just the commentary on each of your points which is just nibbling 'round the edges of what you said. i am sensitive to extremes in temperature more than most of the NTs i've met, as well as loud sharp sounds which i can't stand. squeaks and...

What special interest do you have that you'd like to make a career of but are being held back because of required social interaction? Your narration pretty much describes my history. Fortunately I write for a living; no people contact required. Had past jobs, though, working around people. Never fit...

A few years ago was when I decided to compile a list of all the well-known symphonies and famous symphonic composers to see if somewhere in there, were composers I had never known of but whose music I'd find fantastic. I've always loved classical or classical sounding music, but only from a vew sele...

I was watching "Tails of Valor," a TV show about how animals bring joy and service to disabled or otherwise challenged people. Today's story focused on "Cora," age 9, and the narrator literally said (this isn't word for word, but it's pretty close), "Cora had ADHD and Asperg...

You mean you dont remember what smell is what? Like mom told me that "that smell coming from cat box is mildew", and then months later I told a friend "your basement has mildew" because it had the same smell. Are you saying that you wouldnt be able to ID mildew months after you ...

Sniffing things for a very long time and in a repetitive way, including thinks that stink, sounds like stimming. Stimming can be done with any of the five senses. However, if you sniff a lot because you think it brings you good luck or PREVENTS bad luck, this sounds more like OCD rather than self-re...

Shutdowns: What I meant was a period of literally being non-functioning. If you're shutting down the environiment in order to hyperfocus, that's, as you said, a strength, a great ability, and just the opposite of being non-functioning. A true shutdown: speech often impossible; lie in bed all day or ...

I also want to add that the Aspie test is actually accurate for those with a bunch of stereotypical autism traits, or "neuro-spicy." But for non-spicy Autistics such as myself, not so accurate. The Aspie quiz will calculate a high probability for autism if you have all those iconic traits ...

I don't think this version 5 is reliable at all. Fortunately, when we don’t know how to answer, we can answer with "?" . I did it several times and my report is still doable. It was far easier in my native langage than in English so maybe you could try this if you’re not a native english ...

Result - 118/200 87% atypical Please accept my (hopefully) constructive comments One thing I've always noticed about these kinds of test is that some of the questions are about other people's opinions and not about the person taking the test e.g. Do people tell you your experiences aren't real? Do ...

I don't think this version 5 is reliable at all. For example, there's a REPEAT, word for word: #135 and #151: "Do you find it hard to be emotionally close to other people?" It said I have a 77% chance of being an NT - even though I have a clinical diagnosis of ASD. Below are some of the qu...
