Help! I am the mom of a 25-year-old young man who has all the signs of having Asperger's Disorder. He and I would both like to get a formal diagnosis, but don't know where to go. We live in central Wisconsin. I have not been able to find any place in Wisconsin that is qualified to diagnose anyone ov...

Oh, boy, sounds just like my son. My boy wouldn't eat due to texture issues, but mostly because lots of foods gave him very bad indigestion and heartburn. He had pain every time he ate, only he couldn't tell us, so we didn't know. We took him to see doctor after doctor about his not eating, but noth...

I always rock and I don't give a crap anymore about what other people think of it. It's not as bad as smoking around other people and people put up with that until recently.

You can easily see in my family that it is genetic. I have read that it is THE most inheritable condition. My son's doctor thinks that the rise in numbers is a combination of heredity and environment.

My two sons are on the spectrum, as well as my husband and myself. I would say yes, without a doubt.

Yes, I have always been that same way, although it is less now that I am older. I do still have a hard time remembering faces and names, though.

Some of your husband's stims actually sound like the repetitive behaviors of someone with OCD, especially the thing with the glasses and the iphone fiddling. In my family, our stims actually calm us. But OCD behaviors can cause great anxiety if one can't stop them at will. That, to me, sounds like ...

Meltdowns were described to me like this: They build and build and one can tell that the child has no control and may even be unaware of what is going on around him/her.

I need the sunlight because I am prone to depression if I don't get enough. However, my eyes are sensitive to it, as is my skin. So it's kind of a problem for me. My aspie son is even more visually sensitive to sunlight than I am, and wears sunglasses all day long, even in the house.

My husband, who has ASD, developed grand mal seizures when he was 14. We are pretty sure that he must have also had absence seizures when younger that went unnoticed. He has had every kind of seizure.

I know lots of ASD people who have seizures.
