I knew an electrical engineer who worked in a hotel.
He got laid off around 1974 and moved to Hawaii where there are very few engineering jobs.
He told me that he used to design integrated circuits.

that's more a symptom of being in Hawaii. There's not much work outside of defense and tourism.

European Jews often have red hair (so do some Palestinian Arabs) but they still tend to "look Jewish". Facial bone structure etc. Appearances can be deceiving. As you said in the sentence that contradicts everything else you said...there are DNA markers. ummm do you know how genetics work...

Most of the autistic people I have met tend to be athiests. I used to think of myself as an omnist but now I'm starting to question that too, but personally I find the concept of atheism depressing as f**k. So I don't really know what I believe in anymore. :? I feel strongly like there is nothing t...

What are some examples of people that got a lot of education and work at jobs that are unskilled? Electronics technicians and pharmaceutical manufacturing requires a lot of people with various amounts of skills. I know plenty of engineers who started in non-degree roles like technicians, maintenanc...

Not that I don’t read religious texts or avoid relationships with extremely religious people, I just try and avoid the subject entirely or mention I was raised atheist and discuss religious topics with family about as frequently as what is considered acceptable in a professional environment

Are there any twins on the spectrum with non-NT twins?

Do you have any experience being held out of opportunities/classes to prevent embarrassment of a sibling?

Has anyone ever been held back by a parent against the wishes of teachers in order to assert a certain behavior?

There is one salient point underlying this entire thread that no one seems to have addressed; at least, not in depth. Communism has never worked. I never have seen autism as a barrier for driving ability, but more as a barrier for motivation to drive. I’ve yet to cause an accident after 300,000 miles of driving across three cars. However, I do think driving is extremely frustrating and when it is convenient I prefer taking the bus or train. I...

All that does is make them weird hypocrites imho. It would be like finding a modern day Nazi who claims to support and defend Jews and everyone telling me I should forget the past and support the Nazi movement. Bad comparison. Antisemitism is at the core of the Nazi ideology. Meanwhile the U...

Although you should know that claiming some other place is worse is not a relevant argument. yeah that's not really the point I'm trying to make here. People criticize Cuba for its governmental style and how it functions with other countries without taking a good look at the factors that led to how...

Sometimes it’s better to look inwards for this sort of stuff. I remember people complaining about affirmative action to me but then make no mention of the legacy student population, or people who have private tutors or other types of cheating

People move around a lot. Period. No people have any specific claim to a land through genetics. I don’t think it’s fair for people to say they belong in a certain part of the planet due to something as unimportant as descent. We’re all human. I think the genetic argument and justification used by pe...
