My sleep schedule is completely wrecked, always. It is not reliably connected to seasons, hormones, stress, or anything else - it just goes haywire. I'm usually a night owl, like it or not. When I finally do adjust and go to sleep and wake up at a normal time, it lasts about two days before I end up...

For me, a little bit of alcohol = less anxiety. A lot of alcohol = a**hole. I try to just abstain.

Thanks, Chloe. It is difficult with my husband modeling a behavior I wish to nip in the bud with my son. Husband was on anxiety meds, but quit because he doesn't think he needs them. He's been an insufferable prick ever since. He blames me for all of his issues, says if he knew it was autism, he wou...

That is an exceptionally good video, thank you for sharing it! I'd say there is a spectrum within the spectrum when it comes to ToM. My daughter is highly empathetic, and I can be as well when I realize there is a need for empathy. I'm not necessarily intuitive enough to know when that is, and neith...

My mother and family hates it. But on the flip side - I hate it too! When I reread what I wrote it makes me sad... I sound like a truly horrible person. Okay, you do not, at all, sound like a horrible person! Please don't think that. If anything, I get quite the opposite impression of you. And, you...

I debated whether to add my question to the parenting forum, or put it here. After much deliberation, I've decided this was the more appropriate location. Since it is a complex thing, I'm going to give an example/story of how what I am asking about happens. My question comes down to this: Is this ty...

First, I am sorry. No child or parent should be subjected to such epic failure on the part of a teacher to act like a human being. I am horrified for you and your child. I dealt with something similar. My daughter has AS, and is absolutely the kindest, most loving child in the world. She does have i...

I think you might be onto something with your suggestion about not being in his line of sight. He does NOT like being looked at unless he's chosen to look at someone else, or he's being praised. I'm going to try this. Thank you for taking the time to reply. I hope your tomorrow is better than today.

Every day lately, I find myself thinking 'thank goodness I can homeschool my 7 year-old son because I would be getting calls daily'. The screaming, the rages, the zero patience/no frustration tolerance, the self-centered thinking, the way he interprets everything as being so against him, UGH. And wh...

Does anyone else ever get thoughts, names, words, or other random noises or sounds stuck in their head on repeat? I don't know if it is echolalia, but it happens to me often and it is extremely annoying.

I'm actually FOR the Second Amendment, but this guy is just an a**hole. I understand those who want to ban guns. It seems like a good idea, especially after a horrific incident like those precious children being murdered. It just doesn't work. Suicide bombers kill that many children easily. Idiots w...

I know I can't be alone. I wanted to know if some of you had traumatic experiences, as a result of having undiagnosed AS. I did not know I had AS until adulthood, and so I was often seen as a difficult, overly-sensitive (sensory) little smartass and punished frequently for reasons I couldn't underst...

Maybe he is gay. Either way, I think being supportive is the right approach. There is a BIG difference between feeling different because you have AS and feeling different because you are gay. I am bi, and I can tell you I was attracted to my own gender LONG before I was attracted to people of the op...
