Doctors work right in your face. Developers, by and large, do not. I'm an IT architect and peer-developer, and if the check is good, I don't care what people think of my work. If you want to wear a cape and get regular pats on the back, apply to be a travelling debug engineer like a PFE working for ...

Try Texas. There's no such thing as an accommodation for autism here. Doctor or not, don't let a neurotypical tell you how much social isolation you need. Decide for yourself, and tell your therapist to pound sand. Your job experience is not uncommon. I started as a Chemist then ended up in IT, and ...

I have an IQ of 148 So do I. Think in terms of computers. Your IQ is like CPU speed, but without software, you're a steel and silicon brick. Find a skill that requires a really fast processor, learn that skill, and you will stand out in the job market. Probably, but not certainly, you will not effe...

Yet everytime I start a new job I am worried I...

After more than three decades in professional industry, what I tell the well-meaning people who want to coach me is: "Coaching cannot cure autism. If it could, it surely would have by now." My advice is to work as hard as you can to blunt the sharp edges of the behaviors that are most like...

My son did well on several of the assignments but had trouble with the abstraction of ethics. The professor responded to his final paper about neurology and responsibility “this is an ethics paper, not a scientific paper or opinion paper” Still not sure how that comment was supposed to result in ed...

When I transferred from a mainstream school and attended a popular/big college in 2006-2008 I remember the learning support I got there was very poor. Is this normal for a lot of colleges in the UK when it comes to students with learning disabilities etc? You'll be even less impressed with the supp...

I don’t understand Valentine’s Day, I know it’s about love, but people can celebrate love everyday. My wife and I married out of the back of a limo in Las Vegas on Valentines day. My "Tuxedo", a T-Shirt decorated to look like a Tux complete with an actual purple bowtie, is hanging in the ...

Let me try and provide some analysis. America is broken. We have let in over 10 million illegal aliens into this country from all the corners of the world. They have brought in massive crime into the U.S. What Trump is saying in my humble opinion is that we must first fix our own internal problems ...

People wonder why Trump is so popular. Here's why. More than half of the human race are functionally controlled by confirmation bias and cognitive dissonance regarding any topic that provokes an emotional response. Tell them what they want to hear, and they cheer for you. Insist on telling them some...

Since this particular ABA program uses “positive reinforcement” it is a lot less bad than jail where autistics are extremely vulnerable to all sorts of narcissists, sociopaths, psychopaths etc. Jail is extreme sensory hell. But a lot less bad is often still pretty bad. ABA trains one to be complian...
