Hi, I am an adult female recently diagnosed with AS after other issues (depression, generalized anxiety, social anxiety, ADHD, and OCD) were ruled out. Through this process of working with a professional to tease apart the source of my traits and behaviors, I have learned a few lessons that I would... |

I have inattentive type ADD - and when tested I had no evidence of hyperactivity or being easily distracted. What I do have is difficulty focusing on things that others want me to focus on, or things that aren't interesting to me. I also have a somewhat weak verbal working memory, so often I have to... |

Some studies have indicated (but not consistently), that those with HFA have a performance IQ that is higher than verbal IQ. Those with Asperger's can tend to have the opposite--a higher verbal IQ than performance IQ.

It is also a surprise to find out how miserable I have made my wife over the years. I still don't really understand what it is that she is so upset about. I just know that her life is a misery, it's my fault and she can't explain why. Previously, I would have argued my point and tried to apply logi... |

I want to ask something, and I'm going to phrase it as a hypothetical situation, because that helps me to write it. If you would, please read this, and say what you would do, or what you think. I'll put my hypothetical situation in a quote box so it looks neat and tidy: Let's say you look at the di... |

I saw a psychiatrist (briefly) years ago, who was probably in his 60s, and definitely a Freudian. All he wanted to know about was my relationship with my father, and wasn't very helpful. Have never been to a psychologist, but have seen a psychotherapist for several years. What I appreciate about my ... |

To the OP: Check out Broad (or Broader) Autism Phenotype. It is the idea that the relatives of those with Autism Spectrum Disorders have traits of autism but not to the degree that they are diagnosable. So, for instance, relatives may have alexithymia (difficulty understanding and expressing emotion... |

What happened in the paleolithic era and the eras before mankind does not define one's faith in God. In fact I even attend a church that is an offshoot of the Baptists (and I even teach sunday school), and the first sunday of this year the pastor invited his wife, who was the science major, to teac... |

Has anyone experienced a personal familial connection with bedwetting? I've read studies that make the correlation, and my son's father also wet the bed until he was 12. My father eventually told me, when I was nine, that he wet the bed, too. It would have been helpful if he had revealed that earli... |

My parents tried a lot of things - but with me nature had to take its course. I wet the bed until I was about ten. I know from experience that this is really frustrating for everyone, but it isn't something that we do intentionally, and I wish someone had told my parents that punishment wouldn't hel... |
