There's billions of dollars in profit at stake, so a lot of money gets spent to defend that, I think. And, there are plenty of people who will say anything if you pay them enough. Apparently, there is a network of opposition working to criticize her. I heard/read that they're radical free market tru... |

UBI is an interesting idea and could be great, but I wonder about the practical political realities. Replacing all existing social welfare programs with UBI means only one thing needs to be reduced or cut to reduce or end it all. The current Repub. strategy is to massively cut taxes and then say tha... |

If it sounds like a 60Hz hum, maybe it's a buried electrical transformer. There was a place I lived once where I'd hear a hum at night. I traced it to a spot about 2 blocks away but couldn't see any obvious indications of electrical equipment on the surface, so I don't know for sure. |

The immigrant-crime meme is BS. Immigrants have lower rates of criminal behavior than native born Americans, which makes sense because they don't want to be deported because they got caught jaywalking. I grew up (and still live) next to 100 acres of commercial apple orchard/vineyard (not mine), and ... |

IMHO the obscene self-contradictory term " affluent poor " belongs in the trash heap of history. What about “wealthy hand-to-mouth” households? :o "70 million Americans may live in families they describe as “wealthy hand-to-mouth” households". https://finance.yahoo.com/blogs/the... |

So i will End up homelessness? It's not guaranteed, at all. You have to try and see how working goes. You could get lucky -- I did with my first job. My supervisor left for college classes an hour after I got there, and no one else worked in the mail room. And, I was too low in the pecking order to... |

So how are you guys not homeless in the us? Some undoubtedly are, and most of them probably don't have internet access to reply. I'm disabled and on benefits for other reasons. Some may be just underemployed. Some might find a niche where they're allowed to be weird because the job doesn't involve ... |

One of the most staggering, jaw-dropping observations is when someone with obvious and profound disabilities, such as physical disabilities, plus head injury, plus PTSD from long military service, refuses to apply for medical benefits. I don't understand that at all. Well, receiving gov't benefits ... |

I've become less inclined over time to see self-diagnosis as a good thing. Why? Because "diagnosis" is an activity engaged in by medical doctors Perhaps then the term "self diagnosis" should be replaced by something like "self identification" or "self recognition&... |

The DSM was created to standardize diagnostic criteria because various shrinks in various different places were making up their own. So, maybe that's an indication that there's just a strong natural tendency in the field to make up one's own criteria, and the inconsistency is how people end up not d... |

I had a cardiologist pull that crap on me about a heart condition, and after pushing him to test me anyway it turned out I was right. So, medical people can be wrong in their snap judgments in a way that is mind-boggling. Shouldn't they be more fact-based and careful in their thinking? I could be wr... |

An upside to lacking a lot of social instincts is not being obsessed with social status, I think. It seems to me a lot of people are thinking about it (probably unconsciously) in literally every social interaction. They seemingly can't help looking for any and every reason to think themselves superi... |

I don't understand why any Aspie would hide or"mask" their true self to pretend to be NT or a non AS/ASD person. It seem a lot of Aspies out here are trying to be someone that they're not and will never be.To me,pretending to be NT are doing things like trying social, making small talk,tryi... |

The neighbors' vineyards are thick with grapes, and two of the apple trees have broken limbs from being overloaded with fruit (the wonders of pesticides). And big boxes of watermelons in, seemingly, every store. |
