Surely a sentient machine would be useless. Isn't the point of making machines do tedious work that they won't get bored? Why create a machine that's capable of becoming bored? That would put us back to square one. What happens when the robots become unionized? Sentience doesn't necessarily imply '... |

yes, I deleted my 'flawed' analogy. thank you for pointing that out. I meant to add this ... Weighted only works if you play a lot of hands, then the fact that 61% of the time you still win some money on a loss -- changes the decision making to favor not surrendering. But if you are not around to s... |

Consider a choice between the following two options in a one-shot (not Blackjack) game: a) 50% to win $1000 and 50% to win $999. b) 50% to win $1000 and 50% to win nothing. By your logic, there is no reason to have any preference between these choices. I have no idea what "one shot" is, however it ... |

You cut off the other 61% from choice a. You can't do that and still calculate an accurate expected value. 39% to win means a 61% to lose. It should be obvious that when the second hand loses it cannot be the maximum expectancy. Here is it is .. it is not relevant as you will see ... E(c) = .61 * 5... |

You cut off the other 61% from choice a. You can't do that and still calculate an accurate expected value. If I understand this right, and correct me if I don't, this is the correct way to do it: Two possible outcomes: a. a 39% chance to walk out of the casino with 250% winning of total bet on both ... |

I'm pretty sure the optimal strategy for playing multiple hands as a single event is to play each hand individually based on probability. I showed an example above where it is not :x No, you've actually played both hands individually based on probability followed by a mathematical rationalization. ... |
