Not bad, not bad at all. I don't speak Dutch, so I couldn't really understand much of the lyrics, but my family's got Dutch roots, so it was pretty interesting.

Here's one off of one of my favorite albums ever:

This is the cover to Animal Collective's album Merriweather Post Pavilion, based on optical illusion design work done by Akiyoshi Kitaoka. The leaf pattern appears to move, even though it is completely stationary.

The thing about stand-up comedy is, it's supposed to be an experience. That's what comedians do. Very frequently, that means the audience is part of the act and fair game for jokes, and you would do well to keep that in mind when you catch a show. Experienced comedians train themselves to be as prep...

My cynical answer: Because nuance requires thinking for oneself, and that entails more effort than letting other people do one's thinking for them. As far as ideology is concerned, I believe most people are really looking for a path of minimum resistance. These days, there are all sorts of pre-desig...

I hear you, and I completely sympathize. I took me six years to get a college degree, because the first major I tried turned out to be something I realized I didn't want to do with my life. I also moved to Canada and transferred halfway through, which took some time for acclimatization. As a student...

Doesn't get much more metal than Darkthrone. I see your Darkthrone, and I raise you a Pantera, a Ministry, and a Slayer. :P http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=Y2e47wBWTV8...

Why do scientists hate the idea of God? They strongly object to God as an explanation for anything. They'll accept pretty much any explanation as long as it's not God. They just absolutely hate the possibility of God. Scientists should quit objecting to God. There was a time when science and God we...

Tool need a new album soon!! ! Yes, I agree wholeheartedly. If you're into Tool, I highly recommend you look into Porcupine Tree and Riverside as well. I listen to a lot of different bands, including those three probably first and foremost. I also like the Mars Volta, Radiohead, Bloc Party, Nine In...

Better that she self harms in a controlled way than for her to let it build up and do it when she's unsupervised. If she is allowed to take control and is supported to dress any wounds to avoid infection this is far better than being left to her own devices. There will have been a risk assessment w...

Better that she self harms in a controlled way than for her to let it build up and do it when she's unsupervised. Agreed. It's better that it's done in a controlled manner than for her to do it and either cut too deep or get an infection. Yeah, you know, I'm not really shocked or outraged at this s...

Right is what serves and benefits the interests of the nation. Wrong is what harms the interests of the nation. Morality has nothing to do with it. ruveyn Okay, then-- I have a question for you. What if a nation faces a foreign policy issue where it could be argued by proponents of either side that...

I have, yes. My very first experience was when I was 21. It was a quick peck on the cheek at midnight during a New Year's celebration, with a girl for whom I had a bit of a crush. Since then our relationship has been close but mostly platonic. Just last year, though, we shared another milestone in m...

I notice that white guys like me are especially vulnerable to accusations of racial insensitivity for drawing sexy women of color. Non-white male artists apparently can get away with drawing women of any race, and artists of all races get away with drawing white women all the time. Indeed, barely a...

There's a relevant theory which has been around in the art world for decades, particularly since the rise of feminism. It's called "male gaze", and it has been a subject of great discussion among artists and critics. Lacan used the term "gaze" to refer to the feeling of awkward self-consciousness wh...
