I suppose it depends how many die-hard Trump supporters there are in the state concerned.

Personally I'm all in favour of Republicans attacking each other in public. The more division there is in their party, the better.

According to Chat GPT: Childhood trauma is generally defined as an event or series of events that occurs during childhood or adolescence and poses a threat to a child's physical or emotional well-being. These events often exceed a child's capacity to cope and can lead to feelings of helplessness, te...

I don't see myself as having childhood trauma, but it depends where the line is drawn between childhood trauma and subclinical bad experiences. And I gather some kids are more resilient to abuse than others. My mother was a bad-tempered, overbearing, overprotective disciplinarian who hit me a lot an...

essentially nonsense, but I think you may be wise in not picking a battle with your wife So when his wife talks nonsense you advice him to go along with it to keep the peace? I think that attitude is behind many problems between women and men today. She's a grown up and not a child and should be tr...

^ Off topic. But there is odd glitch in the website thats not allowing me to capitalize the first word in my post. In the box you compose your post its capitalized, but I when hit the submit button it comes out lowercase. Interesting. The WP software has gone woke and refuses to allow Trumpesque ca...

Well, you're ahead of the UK. Both our main political parties are still doing the "We're tough on drugs" thing even though it has never worked here either. Yup. I suppose the Tories daren't alienate their Gammon support, and Starmer's probably got the same fear. 52% in favour of Brexit wa...

Ah, International Workers' Day. 8) Some socialists try to keep that alive in the UK, but the gov calls it Early May Bank Holiday, as the gov isn't a socialist and doesn't want us to be either. I think it used to be called Labour Day at one time, but they seem to be playing that term down. I gather t...

Unfortunately I always seem to have more urgent things to spend my money on these days. But when I was a lad, I had a ring with a silvery skull on it, and when I turned it to face downwards a bit, 2 little jewels appeared in its eye sockets and a little red tongue popped out of its mouth. I still li...

I certainly share certain traits with others who have ASD, but that doesn't mean I'd necessarily identify strongly with any given one of them. It depends who I get. One problem is our diverse special interests. An Aspie may do my head in by woffling on about string theory when I want to woffle on ab...

I think I might like one or two of their "super powers," but not the whole thing. And I wouldn't want to lose my own "super powers" as part of the bargain.

We'd certainly be living very differently without science. It's been plausibly argued that the Neolithic Revolution was the biggest technological mistake we ever made. But science also has it good side. It gave us BBC Radio 4. Anyway, there's no turning back. Once you know how to do a thing more eas...

I was late diagnosed. It's often useful to remember that you're no more disabled than you were before you started thinking you may have ASD. It's not going to get any worse. It should get easier because when you know it's ASD, you can consciously develop coping strategies based on the traits you've ...

$2000 savings allowance seems very mean. And yes, by 3rd World standards most of us are rolling in gold. So if this "rich but pure of heart" defense turns out to be wrong, we're all going to be roasted for eternity. Thank God I'm an atheist.

Absolutely nothing. I was way too busy with sleeping in late and messing about on my computer to bother. Around 8pm I realised I was hungry so I had a raw salad, a slice or two of previously-baked raisin bread, a few grapes, a few Saltine crackers, and a few shortbread cookies. Unless boiling water ...
