Common sense denotes research to develop treatments is for cures. Since Autism is so diverse one cure does not fit all. Individuals seeking prenatal testing for abortion is not about cure(s). However prenatal testing for early treatment is not about abortion but will lead to that choice making. Tha...

the only ways in which a person could suddenly lose cognitive efficiency, would be in a lab setting where a medico magnetically interferred with the functioning of the frontal lobes, or if an infarction happen in that brain region. stress works pretty quickly, also, but not technically in a sudden ...

I'm against a cure being available until we effect societal change that will keep it from being forced on people. After that, I'm all for it existing, I just don't want it and don't think most people do, actually.

Honestly, I think the disconnect over the cure has to do with higher functioning ASD individuals feeling they have a right to be who they are. I'm not against a cure for those that are so low functioning that they can't really enjoy their lives. This part. I looked into the issue and all I've found...

I disagreed with you. I also made use of sarcasm and overly-formal sentence structures, which is what I often do when feeling awkward.

I preferred to do math in my head rather than with a calculator because, uh, I DON'T KNOW. :P Seriously, though, I remember in one college math class the instructor insisted I use a calculator despite the fact I always instantly had the solution just by looking. Since it was one of those scientific...

I'm not against a cure for those that are so low functioning that they can't really enjoy their lives. The problem here is where that cutoff should be, and ...

Um, yeah, some of us are really slow at working numbers in our heads. It doesn't make us stupid. Actually, my math homework is really funny. One time I answered a problem with "8 = 3." Calculators were invented for people like me. It's really okay to be bad at math. It doesn't mean you're stupid. I ...

Aargh, I'm really sorry. If I ask "do you have PTSD?" I'll get disproportionately many people who DO, though. Post-traumatic stress disorder is probably something you know more about than I do if you have it, since I don't and haven't read about it. All I know about it is that it's a reaction to tra...

You know, I'm really confused when people claim that women are oppressed. At least in America, we aren't, that I've noticed. What I've noticed is more like the opposite. So... have you guys who are saying it exists actually experienced it or seen it happen? Another thing I notice is lumping all of t...

A diagnosis will bar you from military service. If you have kids and get a divorce, it'll make it harder to keep custody of your kids. The police reject Aspies on the grounds that they're "unstable."

There is no help available for adults.

Nothing. NT conversations consist entirely of innuendo.

Saying "um" or "I'm thinking" makes getting an answer impossible for me so I CAN'T inform people of the issue.

They're going to get sued for discrimination and forced to hire NTs. And then it won't have benefitted us at all. *sigh* Honestly, part of me wants to say that this is discrimination and it's wrong. But not a very big part; we desperately need jobs and highly qualified Aspies are refused positions. ...
