Hey . I feel new. I don't know anyone anymore and it feels like visiting your old school and you stand in the middle of the playground and you're like "woah....it's been so long...who the hell are all those kids?" You're not new. I remember you! Somewhat of a different group these days. Some of "ol...

Talking to autistic people makes me want to basically reject the NT world and its weirdness and I needed to keep m...

I think she is reference this treaty too: http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Convention_on_the_Rights_of_Persons_with_Disabilities Though it is based on US Law as a template, the US has refused to sign it. This treaty did not pass the House of Representatives. So by sighing the treaty, it is giving other...

It's something that's not said out loud too much... but when you're part of a parent's association, you have cries for help coming in every day. Someone will tell you they feel a professional in a day center is acting weird and they want to distance themselves from them, and they get all kinds of ad...

It was really nice, although they're still very confused between HFA and asperger's, but still i really liked the tone of the movie, very anti psychoanalysis. Loved this !

Yeah, I'd heard that psychoanalysis was still big in France. Looks like this may be changing now. I have mixed feelings about it. Sucks for the parents to be blamed, but psychoanalysts tend to be a lot nicer to autistic kids than behaviorists. They actually looked at the kid as a whole person inste...

also, just putting this petition out there, it's a petition for psychiatrists and associated professions but a number of parents have signed it, if some of you want to sign it as "autistic adult", it would be perfectly acceptable: http://bonnespratiquesenpsychiatrie.blogspot.fr/p/manifest-for-good-c...

I freaked out a family member today with my inane ability to remember details others have long since forgotten. Her response: "How do you remember all that??" One day when I was a teenager, I was thinking about a situation when I was about 4 years old and being very stubborn over something stupid (...

France is very paradoxical. In the one hand, there is a progress about autism by specific structures, and on the other hand, there is still a bunch of psychologists who just don't understand anything about autism. Thanks Alfonso for your support. Well, I would say the problem lies in the universiti...

Your experience seems vastly different than mines, and I am from California too. Even when I was in school kids who were diagnosed with Aspergers were given all kinds of special treatment. I have a relative who has a condition very similar to profound autism, and he wasn't on any drugs except anti ...
