Yeah I gave up on her in the end. But the thing that struck me was the 'you don't know what you're talking about' line. My sister said this all the time to me growing up and I genuinely believed it. Now I take it less seriously. I just don't why people are that selfish. She's not on the spectrum at...

pensieve is from Australia. You say "Mum" in Australia, as well as in the U.K., not "mom."

Is that type of correction more than a bit off topic?

Unfortunately it does end up being very detrimental to people I think. +1 I think the problem is that it is so easy to take these portrayals as fact because they are presented as such, even though in reality they are merely entertainment. It seems pretty irresponsible to me. I'm sorry about your de...

I know it's really hard, but you can't care about what your sister does. You can't control her behavior or force her to be nice to your mom.

All that matters is what you do, and you are a very considerate person trying to help your mom feel better. :)

While I know this kind of discrimination occurs, I believe that there are also many places where sensitive men are highly valued.

I think happiness comes when we let ourselves be who we are and find where we fit.

Having company at home always stresses me out, even if I really enjoy the company.

I think Hollywood favors entertainment over accuracy in general.

I always enjoy music that is really sad, not sappy. Songs that go "baby, baby, I love you" have never done it for me. What I now believe is that in order for music to get through my deficient (by NT standards) emotional receptors the emotions put forth must be especially strong. My BS detector is ve...

The term doesn't bother me at all. I am what I am, or a rose by any other name is still a rose. +1 When I found out about Asperger's, it was actually a relief. I went so many years not understanding why I am the way I am and why I have difficulties in certain areas. Even better, I also found out th...

My only close friends are my family.

Whenever I try to have outside friends, all it becomes is stress, stress, stress. I don't get why girls always have to fight with/gossip about each other. :?

I'm only 29 and a half. It seems a bit incredible that I'd get insulin problems at this age, doesn't it? Especially since the last thing I am is overweight - people generally would say I'm underweight. My physical health seems pretty good, also... for instance, I definitely am aging far slower than...

I realize horrible things happen all the time, but outrage should be saved for the ones we are sure were intentional. It isn't fair to read doom and gloom into every mistake an NT makes, just like it isn't fair for an NT to read doom and gloom into every missed voice tone by an autistic. Sometimes ...
