Nothing wrong with it. Gaining knowledge about things that unnerve us seems a perfectly logical reaction. Healthier than pathological avoidance, methinks. Probably why I developed such an intense interest in social interaction, cultures, psychology, stuff like that. It's about feeling like I have a ...

Swimming vigorously in cold water for a long time until muscle fatigue starts to sink in, feeling sleepy, and then wrapping my damp nude body in a huge quilt hot from the dryer very tightly, and feeling the cold exit and the warmth enter. And then, falling asleep.

I think that the criteria for "good looking" as to the purposes of this thread are can be encapsulated in the "30 Helens Agree" model posited by the Kids in The Hall skit comedy group. A.K.A. it is a social construction. the more people that agree that you are good looking, the MORE good looking you...

"either too much or not enough" That concept is dependent on a defined norm. If you'd like to degenerate into semantics on "normal" versus "neutral", we can, but my argument is supported by the rest of your statements. You speak of averages regarding intelligence and use the term "extremes" to defin...

I don't think she's anywhere on the autistic spectrum. Like every other portrayal of autism in the media, the portrait is inaccurate and based on stereotypes about the condition. Either the autistic character is portrayed as a savant, or they're a sociopath (or in the case of Lisabeth Salander, all...

I posit that your problem is due to depression and anxiety. I think it may be related to being surrounded by chattering magpies(staff) 40 hours a week. You say the goal is "independence", but what specific goals are you supposed to be meeting? I've experienced very, VERY similar feelings including u...

I am orally fixated to the point of ridiculousness.
I bite my nails, I smoke heavily, I'm always eating candy, gum or some other kind of edible, constantly thirsty, and am famous for my "compulsive-tooth-brushing" habit.
If none of these are available, I grind my teeth until my jaw aches.

While still at school, I used to get comments speculating that I was a gay. I did not really care. And I do not understand why some make such a big thing about it. For me, people are people, and their gender or sexual orientation are not the most important things. Once a fellow male student wanted ...

Short answer: yes. Long answer: It took me five years to get diagnosed for real, or 28 years if you look at it another way. Mostly because I am an adult female. Women with Autism and Asperger's present differently, and a large part of that is cultural expectation. There is infinitely more pressure o...

Huh.
My ring finger is nearly an inch longer than my index finger.
Also, I score higher on "male-brained" tests than most autistic males.

actually, I have most of the traits associated with very high testosterone levels, although I have never actually had the levels tested.

after my first BF tried to spring sex on me out of no where Not okay. Maybe that has something to do with it, or at least, didn't help. If you can't afford vaginal dilators (the glass dildo things of ascending size), try your fingers. Don't be afraid to play around with it. Get a mirror and look at...

I have been perceived as "gorgeous" and I have been perceived as "ugly" in various times in my life, but I have always, always been smart. I will add my words to the other women repliers here and say you can never overestimate the effect of cutting off your hair! When my hair was waist-length, every...

I really enjoyed the movies. I tried reading the books, but in a complete reversal of expectations(I usually MUCH prefer books over movies), I found it to be not my cup of tea. Long accounts of corporate espionage are...boring. I did feel some parallels between myself and the character, especially h...
