I saw no purpose to a senior prom. I never went and never considered it. I actually spent my senior year in high school in severe depression that later became full-blown bipolar disorder when I was 19.

Sorry. A straight male and straight female at the age of sexual exploration and ability could NEVER be platonic friends. It's a societal impossibility. I strongly disagree. It is possible to have relationships that are non-sexual, regardless of gender. Also "age of sexual exploration"--what the hec...

I got a lot of practice at this when I worked at The Home Depot. They sometimes stuck me at the door as a greeter. Interestingly, this was in a city that has a high Hispanic population, so I got a little practice in both English and Spanish. I eventually realized that being a greeter is really impe...

I've learned to navigate a conversation fair. I've paid close attention to others who were engaged in small talk and have picked up a few phrases here and there. They are all questions though. Once the person answers all of the questions with no outside interruptions or anything, all I have is sile...

Does anyone else have problems with reciprocation? I understand that friendship is supposed to be the way you describe, CuriousKitten, but I've never been able to manage that long term. I accept people for who they are, for the most part, but as for helping them be who they want to be, that just so...

... If you obsessively talk about the same topic with the same person more than once, then that person will feel turned off and annoyed. ... One social rule is that people talk about a different topic with one another each day. ... Oh, really! That is not what I've seen. People often talk about the...

This is an old thread. Please be aware that some of the contributors are no longer here. I have to wonder how people can always tell its an old thread, when it shows up on the first page as what looks like a recent thread being on the first page near the top. And why its assumed this should be comm...

I need to always know the reasons behind everything. For some reason that drives everyone nuts. The older I've gotten the more I tone it down, but I ask as many questions as I can get away with. Sometimes there are rules in life that you have to just tolerate. Maybe you can examples in your adult li...

I actually took the title of this thread to mean what would I like to do research about at the moment. I was going to tell you vegetation in the deep south. But that's not what you meant, is it? ;-) I suppose I'd like to know why my urge to explain things in great detail and give the backstory or h...

Yes, I rarely remember my dreams. When I do sort-of remember something after waking usually it is something boring and realistic: like doing the laundry, going to work, or shopping, cleaning etc. Apparently, a lot of people have fantasy type dreams--I can't relate. I actually woke up two days thinki...

I actually hope I'm mistaken, but yeah, I think it is about this way. And I think the skill is how to move laterally away from a crappy professional. And also how to work with a doctor in that sloppy middle, a doctor you can halfway talk with. but most importantly is to find a professional you can ...

I know Autism is a 'spectrum disorder'. So you might be a 'little' or a 'lot'. But can you have Bi-Polar disorder as well at the same time? Do any of you with a diagnosis have both? I wouldn't imagine Bi-Polar is a spectrum disorder, but I might be wrong. I could research it, but what the hell, I j...
