I think that the uncertainty is a good starting point. I catch my friend's eye and realise that he's been watching me across a room full of people and he turns away because I've caught him. I wonder, what was he thinking? Does he like me? This gets me thinking about him. The more I try and fathom ou...

I was watching an interview conducted by Piers Morgan with Anne Widdecombe on Saturday night and he was not very understanding of her love life. She is I think like many of us here who have not come accross the right person and who live alone. He asked if she was lonely going home to an empty house....

I'm not completely AS and I'm not completely NT. I can see the world from both angles, but don't fully understand either side. After reading a few posts here I have sympathy for people who feel that they have to put on an act constantly and are tired of trying to work out what an acceptable way of b...

Have you ever considered that they might actually be trying to help you? Of course, threatening someone is a bad motivator, but you would probably feel just as patronized if you were told straight: "Don't sit in the back of the car, you're old enough to sit in the front now."

[quote="Verdandi"] I do find absolute statements difficult because I find myself focusing on all of the exceptions to that statement (and those exceptions are not necessarily exceptions at all)[quote] I totally agree. Sweeping generalisations do the same thing to my brain. I instantly go o...

Oh, was of the opinion that a great many of the conversations on Radio 4 were between people with aspergers. That's why I listen. It's more interesting than regular radio.

This is an interesting topic. When I was younger I used to have a bit of a superiority complex, but I've mellowed as I've got older and realised that other people can have points of view on things as well. I'm usually right, but I'm not always right. :) I think it is a theory of mind issue to a cert...

Yes, I've always just thought that I was a perfectionist. I am very driven by the need to avoid mistakes and I fear saying something stupid. I like to get all the facts before making a comment or taking action. This may be because of how I got treated as a child. I'm not sure whether a family memebe...

Hello I'm here to get a better understanding of the dynamic in my family, oh, and there are some interesting topics here too that I have been enjoying reading and I wanted to throw in my thoughts too. I suspect that a autism runs through my family, but I don't really understand how or what this mean...
