I'm back on the soap box... I know that there are some autistics who do things to try and make positive changes in their lives and the lives of other with autism. Many others just "can't be bothered" because it's not a special interest or because they don't have the cognitive ability ? I'm hoping th...

"IF" they found a cure you think there would be a choice for those who refuse it...like the choice that young girls are now given as to whether they take the pill for genital warts ? Or the chose that young children have as to if they receive electric shock, ABA, chelation therapy from their parents...

Just to mention...forcing yourself into bed when you are not "tired" has never worked for me . Results in complete frustration, tossing and turning and other annoying side effects . I find it more effective to make myself stay awake as long as possible to readjust my cycle . In other words, if I eng...

whats the GFCF diet? Gluten free, casein free...basically avoiding many grains and milk...supposedly helpful to some autistics who have difficulty digesting those and become "intoxicated" with their consumption leading to out neurological issues . Interesting theory and the diet does help some peop...

My personal AS mantra is... A fish is not a broken bird . If that is a bit to abstract...the point is that you can''t judge how well a fish swims if you are only focused on the fact that it isn't flying. but some aspies were offended that I thought they were fish and not birds 8O ...so...OK you want...

This is very common in AS...they think it is not really insomnia, (though there are several different types of insomnia but more of us have this form) . Theory is that we are somehow...on a different clock...not 24 hour one but not sure "why" . I struggled with this as a kid but my only solution has...

I actually came up with a bunch of hits for "adult Asperger's" on the APA website. One hit on the very first page was actually an article on adults with AS misdiagnosed as being schizophrenic, which was something addressed in the essay you linked to. Have you actually sent that message yet?- becaus...

While I agree with the sentiment and would love to ignore them as they have managed to do to us, I force myself because they get the money and decide where funding goes . I am managing to keep a float...(finally, at 45), but there are kids behind me that will be adults and many other adults who are ...
