I'd be curious what is causing you the stress and maybe I can help direct you to something in the field that you'd enjoy. I don't think I'd be suited for emergency medicine because something that makes me very stressed is having to make decisions quickly. I need time to think things through properl... |

I absolutely understand where you're coming from and I still struggle with some of those issues. I'm not sure what you are interested in going into but is there other positions in the field where you could at least be around what you enjoy? I wasn't able to stay in Emergency Medicine but I am able ... |

I'm not really sure how to write this without making it seem like I'm just feeling sorry for myself or something. Well, In a way I guess I do feel sorry for myself but I'm mostly just frustrated. Very frustrated. Anyway, here's my question: how do I avoid feeling completely discouraged and feeling l... |

Okay, for some reason I can't post the reply I just typed. It says I'm blocked when I try to post it. Trying if this reply works instead (not sure why it would?). EDIT: Weird. Tried changing my reply but it just said I was blocked again. Anyone know what's going on? I guess I'll wait a while and pos... |

I've been feeling awful the past three weeks or so. My psychologist diagnosed me with moderate (borderline severe) depression recently and the depression has affected all areas of my life. I've been doing bad for years but I haven't done this bad in a very long time (since before I was diagnosed wit... |

I wonder if it simply has to do with the fact that it's harder for us to learn the 'life lessons' that come with emotional maturity. I talked to my psychologist about this whole thing yesterday and she pretty much confirmed the quoted thing above. She said that in my case, at least, it's probably a... |

Here's something I've been thinking about lately: I feel like I'm at least 5 years emotionally behind other people my age and I don't really understand why. I'm 25 years old and I'm currently in some kind of identity crisis or something (have been for a while). I've been questioning my sexuality for... |

I saw my psychologist the other day and in the beginning of the session she asked me how I was doing. After thinking for a little while I answered her question with one word and proceeded to ask her how she was doing. She told me how she was feeling (nothing personal just that she was a bit tired bu... |

A novel or piece has to create pictures in my mind for me to groove on it, so Joseph Conrad used to be my favourite reading, as the pictures in my mind created by his writing can be very vivid. I wish I understood what that's like. My ability to imagine things is most likely below average. I have a... |

Why would escapism be a bad thing? I mean, I can understand that escapism in the form of drugs etc. is bad, but why would reading, listening to music, watching movies (or something else that's harmless) be bad? I agree with skibum (by the way, skibum , how are you?). I'm seeing a psychologist so I g... |

I'm not sure what I'd do without books. My anxiety level is pretty high today and I honestly don't know what I'd do without this kind of escapism. Sometimes I even wonder if reading is a bit of a "special interest" of mine (I've been told I'm one of those people with ASD who, strangely eno... |

I used to always not want to tell people i had asperger's and keep it a secret. I did it for years, but recently, i decided to let people know i have it when the time's appropriate. When do you think it's appropriate to tell someone about the diagnosis? There are some people I have to tell (for exa... |

I have that problem too. It's a bit confusing. |

I simply ask about it if I'm not sure whether or not the person asking the question actually wants me to answer. "Do you want me to answer that?" works quite well. |

I read the thread someone started about aphantasia and just felt like I wanted to ask someone about the following: I have a poor imagination and I have a very hard time visualising things. When I try to do so I can't see pictures or anything. Instead, when I try to visualise things the result is som... |
