This might seem like a strange response but are you wearing the right size bra? Have you been professionally measured? A lot of women wear a bra with too big a back size and too small a cup size and it's very uncomfortable. I also find there is a lot a difference in bra quality and more expensive on...

I've been thing about this one a lot too recently. Pretending to be someone I'm not - 100% Epic Fail However, performing by just letting the more competent and confident aspects of my personality out, while working hard to ensure I am polite and inoffensive 80-95% success rate (a kind of being the b...

Brilliant, this is me when I can't avoid some kind of work related social... I do not stay long these days... Not so long back I went to a talk on some fairly advanced statistics. Afterwards there was a chance to stay and chat after. It was great, no-one wanted to talk about anything not related to ...

So thinking about the social rejection side a bit more, I've resolved to stop assuming I will be automatically rejected in every minor social encounter I have. How to do this? 1) When I'm entering into a simple social interaction remind myself not to jump to any conclusions (my first impressions are...

And of course, in case you haven't seen it already - 2001 a Space Odyssey - I often forget how long ago Kubrik made this film

I watched Dark Star a few years ago. I found some parts of it very funny, but a lot of it didn't really do much for me. I might just have been in the wrong mood to watch it at the time, so I should probably see it again at some point, preferably not alone. I'd agree that a lot of the humour is very...

It's a while since I saw Forbidden Planet, you're almost certainly right about the gender politics, some of the special effects tricks are very well done though. There was quite bit of dodgy gender politics in the original Star Trek too if I remember properly, although in some other ways the series w...

A bit dated but with an interesting plot is Logan's Run

Then there is the original 1956 Forbidden Planet, a sci-fi version of Shakespeare's Tempest.

I'd recomend the Battlestar Galactica (the recent version 2004-2009) in addition to the above. There are 73 episodes of this... I agree that Stephen Moffit Dr Who stuff is brilliant, especially some of the earlier episodes he wrote when David Tennant was still the Doctor, Don't Blink and the Library...

Meditation in my experience can give me short moments of relaxation in between the hyper-vigilance, but this can still be very relaxing. I have not always found meditation brings relaxation, but it can generally make me calmer. When I'm very hyper a walking based meditation can be better than a sitt...

Ok..When we talk about how:  "the simplicity of the understood complexity within the natural environment breeds solace by way of soothing our sensory feedback and thus relaxing our state of mind" That rational and logically direct statement sounds just as mind-f***ing as "The forest protects me" wh...

Anyone showing extreme emotions. Extremely happy, extremely sad, extremely angry etc Just to be clear, I'm talking a situation where the person is not doing anything harmful to themselves or others, just being a bit extreme. I hasten to add I think it can be ok to display extreme emotions sometimes,...

Good to hear it was helpful to you. If I believed in reincarnation I'd like to come back as one of your cats. @glasstoria That's very helpful, I'm far to quick to assume malevolence when it is unintentional mistake or forgetfulness, I need to remember this more often. I hadn't thought about it much but I really dislike other people even just moving my things, let alone losing them. This may be bit about the...

Thanks for all the replies so far.

I'm actually a bit surprised how many people have identified with this, and how much I identify with all your responses too.

Am off to sleep now but will respond more fully in the morning.
