This may be pessimistic but in my experience it seems true. Teachers have come to learn that in this day and age most students don't care and will just cheat their way through any test. Same goes for college. The majority of students spend the period on their smartphones, and cut class whenever ther...

An update A friend of mine who is on the spectrum DARED to write about her journey on the spectrum in an essay, and was rejected early decision from a college. She was extremely hard-working, spending almost all of her free times checking over recordings for people who can't read, leading groups of ...

Here I am again complaining about the public school system. It startles me how indifferent teachers are to any actual learning, even while teaching students in the last year of school before college. One teacher offered me the choice between two books to read for a class, and when I had said I alrea...

Do you take tests or not take them? My high school is all about tests, every year they give more and more to standardize all their students and strip them of any passion or questioning of the system.

Writing, people might not be able to know how many thoughts I really have without it. Also I feel like music motivates everything I do in my life so I would not be able to live (at least mentally live) without it.

I've always assumed that it's the way that you word your condition in the personal statement or supplements (for example, focus more on how you overcame or adapted over simply describing your challenges). Didn't know some places actually practice discrimination like that... I talked to an admission...

I don't mind that part so much. Remember you're writing an essay, not a report. Having to form an opinion about ancient China requires more understanding than just regurgitating the text book into a report. You either show that you already understand it or you're forced to gain an understanding to ...

I don't see how this will make America keep up with other countries' education systems. If anything it will increase the gap since the ones who are able to cannot just advance as easily as they used to be able to.

I agree with pretty much everything you say. My school expects every person to think EXACTLY the same. (Yes, EXACTLY. If I have a different answer to a question and give a valid argument, the teachers all say I should work with the system...). If someone doesn't like all the graduation requirements ...

Thank you for the research and the harsh but true responses.
If only colleges would promote neurodiversity as much as they promote other kinds of diversities. The College of William and Mary seems to acknowledge it. http://www.wm.edu/sites/neurodiversity/

I have watched Scorpion, and I like it, but I wish it hadn't taken so much from the Big Bang Theory. Why not have a male "connection to real world" person instead of another Penny? The girl on this show is even a waiter just like Penny started out. The male government agent does not count because he...

So I've been submitting my applications and was wondering if colleges do discriminate against people with disabilities, specifically mental ones? I know it's illegal and all that, but how can anyone prove colleges do not discriminate?

Does anybody else just not like high school? I don't fit in, not just because I have Asperger's, but also because I have an activist-like personality--not a lot of high school students are like that. And forget being in a comfortable setting--I'm surrounded by constant social stimulation 24/7 and w...

So I am in a high school with an open classrooms structure (basically flimsy walls between most general classes in a big open area) and I can hear multiple classes at once. (When I am in Calculus I can hear a Geometry class, Statistics and other ones) This makes it extremely difficult to concentrate...

I found this article interesting- here
Do you think the Big Bang Theory has something to do with it? Many people I know claim it's their favorite/most-watched show..

Is it really that rare for a female to like technology? Whenever I say I like it people get surprised and often ask if I only like Candy Crush/using iPhones. Is it really so unreasonable?
