Nick22 would be interested to hear how you get on too. I'm hoping the same thing, that once I find an explanation I'll be able to shut the door on a lot of things.

I hope it goes well for you. I got my diagnosis last Feb at the age of 50. The diagnosis took place at the sheffield Aspergers service. They were really good and always treat me with respect. The actual assessment usually only takes about 2 hours in the UK. You go along, do the interview, and they ...

Things have changed so much Asperger's wasn't known of when I was you age. Pleased for you that you've been diagnosed at a relatively young age.

Oh I should point out that I'm talking about adult diagnosis in the UK, for children the process is usually a lot longer.

Yes, my daughter is being assessed and I've been told it could take months.

I've been on this forum for a while wondering am I / aren't I an Aspie. Finally, someone listened and a consultant has referred me for assessment. He indicated that I might have a personality disorder as well but we would start with being assessed for Aspeger's. If you are in the UK you have to keep...

I know nobody likes being or feeling rejected but is it a particular problem with Aspies my daughter and I both respond badly to rejection - her mood shifts dramatically and she has thrown herself at floors and doors sometimes. I just do the dramatic moods shifts but have felt like harming myself in...

Just had a report back from my daughter's first assessment. The paediatric ASD service said the next diagnostic appointment will be in the next few months. It's a long process! It mentions that she occasionally perseverated on vocabulary - have looked it up but still not sure exactly what they mean....

Have had long term schema therapy and my social anxiety has reduced, but there's something else, an underlying social awkwardness. I'm told there's no point in having an Asperger's assessment because there's no evidence for it. What do you think? I wrote down how I feel trying to focus on the awkwar...

I think they are influenced by what others like. I had a very narrow taste in music but I was looking through my old records and I had stacks of records from an artist I didn't even like or enjoy listening to but my friend at the time did. When I was older I found myself wondering - what should I be...

My daughter switches from a good to a bad mood very quickly It can be triggered by not getting her own way - other kids not playing what she wants to play, etc Her mood transforms and she can sometimes throw herself at the floor or at doors - maybe to show how fed up she is / get attention / or mild...
