The idea that the American Dream works or is good because it encourages self-reliance is absurd. . . . And yet, here I am! Well you were undiagnosed and probably never had reason to believe you had something officially wrong with you, so you persevered. Also, you were probably attractive enough to ...

A lot of people seem to think Paige on Atypical was autistic even though she wasn't identified as such in the script. By which I mean, people who identify as autistic.

I think the Brett character in the short-lived HBO show Togetherness was autistic AF or more specifically AS, but his name never comes up. In fact, I believe the character was written with that in mind.

Probably because so few people have seen that show (only 31 people reviewed it on IMDb).

I am watching the 2nd season of The Bear, and the characters and their endeavors seem very consistent with the American Dream, as I understand it. I don't know how the season ends, though. A lot of it seems somewhat fantasized in that what these people are shown doing would probably be a whole lot m...

I find most NT notions about "having fun" quite unpleasant and I am somewhat ashamed of not appreciating opportunities I've been given to have such fun.

I think we're in a really strange place where there's something like a five to ten year rift where Gen Z tries tumbling into a work world that doesn't exist anymore, unemployment soars over 50%, and it's largely technological retooling where on the other side of that sort-of is Ray Kurzweil 'singul...

I tried to watch some of that video. Anyway, I find the whole concept of an "American Dream" silly, as people all over the world want to be prosperous. When support for Communism was widespread, there was indeed a movement that told people to work for the common good rather than their self...

This is actually a podcast. I don't know how many equivalent incidents have occurred in the US, but this certainly stands out. (Spoiler) the girl who did this got one week suspension and the school chose to not get the Police involved. https://thecjn.ca/podcasts/an-israeli-high-schooler-was-beaten-u...

But this site has been steadily losing its members, due to various reasons, and this SQL error definitely isn't helping. Bouncing the server would probably clear that right up, but I don't know who would be responsible for that. Is anybody home? I have an acquaintance who visited Bosnia recently, a...

At the time this began, the US had the same basic plan to metricate as did Canada. For some reason, this was a first step. Reagan then promised Americans that the US would never metricate, because he understood that most people didn't want to. But this lives on, sort of like Neanderthal DNA in the g...

Why not try actually comparing like with like? Then you will see that while Israel were permitted to compete at Eurovision, Russia have been banned for the past three years. So the Western establishment is actually far softer on Israel in cases like this than it is on Russia. This is a valid point,...

There is this superstar hockey player named Alex Ovechkin who is personally close to Putin . Like typical star players he gets booed in opposing arenas and cheered at home. While he has gotten some blowback for his Putin support he does not need a police escort to go to games because there are 20,0...
