Hello! I'm just looking for advice on how to emotionally detach myself from a friend of mine. We're not in a committed relationship, but my emotional attachment to him is getting problematic. He doesn't feel the same way about me as I do about him, which is frustrating in itself. Once I get emotiona... |

Yep, I'm also a nose picker, and I eat the contents, too. Not to gross anyone out or anything. But I only do it in private. |

At about 11:00 this morning I sent a text to my friend, who's a guy I care about very much, that said "Hey, how's your day going so far?" He didn't reply, so 40 minutes later I send a text that said "Hello? You ok?" Still no reply, so I decided to try to call him about half an ho... |

Yes, I'm living in one right now. It sucks! It's actually a nursing home full of over 200 mentally ill people. I've been there for a year and 7 months now, but on the 31st I'm moving into my own apartment. Yay! Also, I've been in multiple rehab centers over the past few years, and some are better th... |

Well apparently, with me being an alcoholic, I can hold my liquor. I hate those hangovers, too. They're no fun. So I just drank some more to treat the hangovers. I kept forgetting about them every time I drank. But all I cared about was having fun and getting drunk. I've been sober now for 10 months... |

Yes, I believe low self-esteem is very common among people with Aspergers. My self-esteem is so low it's not even funny. However, I'm getting to be pretty good at playing pool now. I never even had an interest in it until recently and now I'm being called "pool shark". I learned from my be... |

Yes, I can relate to what you're talking about. I also struggle with social interactions in the workplace, even though I haven't had a job in over 2 years now. And I, too, in high school have felt like I don't fit in anywhere, and would find myself observing others' actions and even tried to dress l... |

I'm living in a nursing home right now. Have been for a year and a half and it SUCKS. Everybody in there has some kind of mental illness and they drive me crazy! Oh well, I'll be out of there on the 31st of this month to move into my own apartment. As far as this place expecting you to fit in? I dou... |

This definitely sounds to me like autism. I don't do well at parties, either. Actually, I commend you for lasting until just a couple of hours before the party was over. I wouldn't have lasted an hour, especially with a lot of people around and loud music playing. I mean, if it was the kind of music... |

I'm just curious, any daydreamers out there? Does it get so bad that it interferes with your everyday life? I daydream all the time and sometimes it gets in the way of what I'm trying to get done. I know it's a common trait of Asperger's. |

Seems to me like you've been through a lot of trauma, so I'm suspecting you may have posttraumatic stress disorder, or PTSD. I used to be bullied in school, too, around the same age as you were. I hope you're still not being bullied. At least you may have symptoms of PTSD. Were you ever diagnosed wi... |

Yes, it bothers me, too, to hear other people around me having conversations. It's very hard for me to talk to people when that's going on. I can't focus very well on the person I'm talking to and I get distracted very easily. So I prefer to have a conversation with someone in private or in a quiet ... |

I notice, too, that my symptoms get much worse when I'm under stress; good or bad. I just plain shut down. I can't think straight, can't focus, can't make eye contact, I stutter and can't easily speak up for myself in stressful situations. Recently, I got approved for an apartment. I'm very excited ... |

I, too, like to show affection towards people, but only to those I like. I really enjoy hugging, kissing and any other kind of physical contact, but only if I like the person and have a reason to have physical contact with them. So, does that put me in the minority of Aspies? |

I can relate to this, too. I do get lonely at times, but don't feel like socializing, unless it's about something I'm interested in. I think the only time I get lonely is when I'm bored, and I try to avoid that as much as possible. However, I try to avoid social situations, too, so go figure. |

Along with Asperger's, I also have Borderline Personality Disorder, but I'm not sure if that's a neurological disorder. All I know is that it's the result of physiological and chemical disturbances in certain pathways in the brain that control specific brain functions. (I kind of plagiarized that fr... |
