The only GM I am aware of with a formal diagnosis of AS is the Czech grandmaster David Navara. There has, of course, been speculation about other well known chess players, past and present. The English player Jack Rudd, who is awaiting ratification of his IM title, also has a formal diagnosis of AS.

This question seems never to have been on the Aspie Quiz. It's never been on any of Baron-Cohen's quizzes either.

The only place I've seen it is here.

It's strange how life plays tricks on you. As a teenager I couldn't wait to grow up so that I wouldn't have to have anything to do with kids ...

When I was a teenager, ridiculed, humiliated, good at nothing - along came chess and - oh my goodness - I was good at something. It was perfect for me. I didn't have to talk. I didn't have to look at people or engage in small talk. My lack of coordination didn't matter so long as I could move the p...

Some of them can't hack the game at all due to problems with attention or learning difficulties. Some are potentially good but lack competitiveness and are reluctant to play o...

You have to have a sharp eye for that. I did that as well - full time from 1972 (the days of punch cards) to ...
