I've been on it for years, so the effects of the drug are simply my "normal." But I know it can reduce irritability and cause weight gain. Considering the weight gain, it may not be the best choice for bulimia, as that could encourage purging. But then again, I'm just an undergraduate phys...

From least to most serious: Stinging insects, especially swarms of wasps. Aggressive dogs. Inpatient psych treatment. A diagnosis of a chronic disease. Being restrained and grievously injured. Being sued into bankruptcy. A diagnosis of a degenerative, eventually fatal disease. My family (especially ...

I wonder whether being overly obedient is an Aspie trait. It seems it would be as a lot of us seem rules-oriented. I think it is worse for females. Women are already taught so many rules whether overtly or subtly, especially in my culture, that to internalize all that you can feel caged in. And the...

First off, I'm sorry about your problems. I've never had a drinking/drug problem, but I know what fear, guilt and hopelessness feel like. But you say you're becoming a Christian. Great! I've been Christian (Catholic specifically) since before I could walk or talk. And because of that, I know that Go...

I don't have any full-blown diagnoses other than autism spectrum disorder, but I have symptoms of depression, anxiety and OCD. Frequently those symptoms manifest as religious depression, anxiety and obsessions. Without going into too much detail right now, I'll say that I am often angry at myself fo...

If I ruled the world (or at least the U.S.), I would: 1. Prohibit all taking of human life, from conception to natural death. The only exception would be to save your own life or the life of another human being. Yes, this includes a ban on IVF and certain forms of birth control. No, this does not in...

AFAIK, the only real obstacle is the Transubstantiation thing, the words "This is my body" or whatever it is translated into. And as I understand it, the thing is, a female body carries too much of different meanings to impersonate Christ in these words. My own expirience of pregnancy and...

Running a parish, leading, helping, organising and doing all the other stuff should be probably not a problem, at least theologically. There is no fundamental obstacle for anything apart from transsubstatiation to be done by women. I wonder if other Sacraments could be conducted by women... Baptism...

As a Baha'i, I believe that Heaven is closeness to God, and that Hell is distance from his mercy. Peace. As a Catholic Christian, I believe the same thing! The only people in hell are those who obstinately reject God's compassion and forgiveness. Yes, almost everybody has some purification to go th...

I know this is old news at this point, but I just discovered the video, so here you go: https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=lPnbxAKIUMk These women want to become Catholic priests against church law. Here's a video that explains why church law is what it is: https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=GfGJs-iFtS8 I...

I guess even if the humanity goes beyond religion, the spirituality will still be there. Right. Part of why our politics and spheres of belief are so strange is that what we're compiled on top of isn't rational in the scientific sense of the word. I don't know if that will ever necessarily work its...

Yes, there are young Catholic Aspies in this forum! I'm a first-year undergraduate at a college far from home, ...

If there can be a Church of Scientology, there can be a Church of the Autism Spectrum/even a string of Churches of Autism around the world. It might require declaring that God is believed to have Autism but that's just a matter of paperwork/stated dogma/belief of the faithful. And what would be the...

Not a good idea, because then we have the IRS going after us if we say anything that would be deemed "political." Real churches foray into politics all the time and don't get their tax-exempt status revoked. They toe the line of not endorsing candidates, but my denomination (Catholicism) ...

How and why can people ignore their God’s immoral ways? I find it quite strange that Christian, Muslims and Jews can ignore the immoral ways that their God is shown to have in the Bible, Qur’an and Talmud. If you have read any of the critical books on God, you will have seen God described with some...

Yes, I think so. A lot of traits of autism spectrum disorders are "masculine" traits (like a preference for systemizing over empathizing), so women with ASDs should have more in common with your average guy than NT women. I know can see guys as friends.
