Try to imagine that the guy as a little old man, and/or just keep your mind off how much bigger he is than you. And in my experience, some of the friendliest people I've met are enormous. It's perfectly obvious that they could kick my ass, I don't exactly pose a threat, so it's all good. I'm much mo...

You might be an aspie if were a little kid and didnt know how other kids could have imaginary friends and think they were real. Ditto. On a related note.. You might be an aspie if as a first grader, you went around telling all your peers that Santa Claus isn't real. And when they argued, you asked ...

What line of work is your friend in? Obviously communication is important in a field like sales.

I've always been in the IT industry, and I've found that it is generally much more accomodating to us aspies. Everyone seems to accept that us computer programmers generally aren't too social.

The idea behind daytime running lights isn't to help your visibility; it's to make your car more visible to other people in hopes of preventing accidents where someone pulls out right in front of you, etc. But I bet they've caused quite a few accidents because of people forgetting to turn the headli...

I have been told that i am not clear enough (communication) my entire life. the reason is that i can spit out a simple quote and in my mind it is surrounded by complicated arguments and free flowing logic. But people look at me and go, WHAT THE... it is not clear to them all that i associate in my ...

I love driving.. Especially with a manual transmission, because I feel more connected to/in control of the car. Even in metropolitan areas in heavy traffic, I do fine. My only problem is that I don't like having anybody in the car with me. Just their mere presence is a major distraction, let alone w...

You're getting gas and a guy comes up in a 1990 Mercury Cougar XR7. You ask him if it has a manual transmission because if it does its one of only about 700 and if it were red it would be 1 of only about 75 at which point he decides the more expensive gas across the street is worth every penny. Hah...

This story made me want to cry, rearden...that's why I gave up trying to help people set their stuff up right. The worst part is when they have much better equipment than you but it's just going to waste. I've learned to suffer in silence. Exactly. I can't stand it when people buy cool stuff just b...

I don't know, but as you mentioned I imagine it would depend on whether there's a fairly constant number of nerves. If so, smaller would probably be more pleasurable. Either way, it would only be one of many factors. "Pleasure" is completely subjective, and individual hormones, brain chemistry, mood...

I'm creative and uncreative at the same time.

I am not creative in terms of thinking of new ideas or coming up with a new invention.

But I'm very creative when it comes to analyzing an idea and figuring out how to make it happen, working around problems, etc.

The harsh reality is that if you can't handle people effectively, there is no way you could ever be considered the best pharmacist ever. Asking an aspie to be the best at any service-oriented job is like asking a 4' tall man to be the best basketball player. EXACTLY. I used to do tech support for a...

There seems to be a double standard. When an NT says a wrong thing, all he/she has to do is say: "No, I didn't mean X, I meant Y", and everyone gives an "oh ok, no problem", and all is forgotten. When an aspie say a wrong thing by mistake, no one listens, no matter how hard an aspie tries to explai...

I'm resurrecting an old thread here... Personally I HATE taking a bus or any form of public transportation. I really don't see anything positive about paying to get on an uncomfortable vehicle packed full of people (many of whom reek and/or talk a lot), and then taking 3 times longer to get to my de...

You go to a restaraunt and the staff already knows what your going to order as soon as they see you. I used to work with two other programmers, one of whom I'm almost positive is an aspie. We had a certain restaurant to go to for each day of the week, and at most of them, no words were exchanged. W...

I love self-checkouts in theory. Unfortunately I've only ever encountered one that worked well and could accomodate a lot of stuff. It had a conveyor belt and everything, like a normal checkout. I hate how most of them only have space for a few bags, and how if I remove a bag before paying to make s...

there shouldn't be any popups There are definitely popups, Firefox has blocked a few. I run a website & fairly large forum. We experimented with various advertising networks. "Click the monkey and get a free (trendy electronics item)!" and other such BS ads made practically no money, while annoying...
