Back to the main topic! ** hides face in embarrassment ** I can’t be the only one who did this... I hope... When I was a little girl, I thought all objects had feelings. I’d hug my backpack. Mom had to take out the garbage when I wasn’t around, because I would cry with sympathy for the unwanted, unl...

Yep....a really accomplished individual. And was classically autistic as a young child. Then, she became more "Aspergian" as time went on. I was also classically autistic when very young, more "Aspergian" as I aged. I never had the visual acuity and flexibility of Ms. Grandin, t...

Grandin was also able to influence more "pragmatic" people who were involved in agribusiness. She’s changed many of the most heinous practices of the CAFOs - mainly by showing them how basic decency can save them money. In a way, she’s a perfect example of how autistics can be both extrem...

Slightly off-topic, but I think it relates to what you’re feeling. A while ago I saw a youtube video that really addressed some lingering concerns I had been nurturing about focusing too much on goal-setting. I’ve hit major goals in the last few years that I thought would be absolutely life-changing...

^^ This is the sort of thing which enabled Temple Grandin to invent all the things she's invented. An ability to see things that many people can't see. To visualize it. To dream about it. To see the minute details which can make the difference between greatness and catastrophe. One degree of angle ...

I spotted a Monarch butterfly in the garden this morning. I let some of the cilantro and broccoli go to seed, so lots of new visitors have been fluttering by.

^^^ that is very interesting. I wonder if the bulk of professional writers are the same way?

I vaguely recall this topic coming up on the Amazon authors discussion page. I don’t know if this method is very common, but I don’t remember thinking I was unusual.

I only ‘hear’ voices when I’m writing. It’s like someone is dictating the story to me as I’m typing. I hear the characters’ voices in the dialogue sections.

If a character yawns, so will I.

I want to be a loner for the rest of my life. I'd rather be by myself than be awkward in social situations. All I'm capable of is intellectual conversations and off beat humor and I don't wanna do that. My desire is to joke around with neurotypical guys and flirt with neurotypical girls. I was neve...

When I first heard about aspergers, it was such a ‘no duh that’s you’ moment for me, there wasn’t any stress. I’d already learned how to handle mine through multiple life experiences. When I was still teaching, I had a young man as a student, who had it so good. He was smart, handsome, charming, fro...

We live a couple of hours from the site of the shooting. Our school district sent out an automated call on Thursday discussing a rumor about plans for an attack on a district high school later that day. My daughter said every phone in her classroom rang at once with that call and people freaked out....

What kind of music was being played on the radio during this time? I’m sure people in the big city were offered a bigger selection than me, but our two pop music stations played only top 40 hits, usually the same ones 7-8 times a day. (Bless WZZO, for they played classic rock!) Lots of Madonna song...

I graduated high school in ‘89. I lived in a really small town an hour outside of Philly that was its own universe in many ways. I remember: We could tune in three FM radio stations - thankfully one was pretty good, because the other two were all Madonna and Duran Duran all the time. We didn’t have ...
