The Complete Guide to Asperger's by Tony Attwood is fantastic.

'Asperger's .... What Does It Mean to Me?' by Catherine Faherty is great. Expensive but worth the price.

I have 3 sons - 2 diagnosed with Asperger's. I'd say your son becomes very confused in social situations. He probably doesn't understand facial expressions, tone of voice, sarcasm etc. With social confusion, comes anxiety .... this can lead to lashing out. My oldest son becomes very anxious with his...

What an awful teacher! I found with my second son, he hated doing set art projects. When the kids were told step by step how to make some art for mother's day/father's day etc he would make a mess of it. However, when the kids were allowed to do whatever they wanted, he would produce fantastic piece...

Excellent news!

You are a pioneer Aurea!

Your hard work has paved the way. The next Aspie family at your son's school will have an easier time.

Things are looking up for your son too!

Well done!

Helen

P.S. Both my sons are doing the national tests next week - Grade 5 and Grade 3.

Australia had an Aspie politician - Tim Fischer, former Deputy Prime Minister. He left politics after his son was diagnosed with autism. On learning more, he realised he was Aspie. For example, he has a life long obsession with trains. http://www.abc.net.au/am/stories/s72724.htm Helen

The students you mentioned sound ill-informed. Typical neurotypicals!! Hear some advertisements, don't bother to take the time to do any research .... let someone else tell them their opinion. Then if anyone challenges them, follow the crowd. I'm a neurotypical so I know that this often is the case....

She's gorgeous!

I see you are brainwashing her with the Boston Red Sox clothing!

Our sons wore lots of Manchester United football gear when they were little, but the brainwashing attempt didn't work - they're not really interested in football!

I believe empathy is one of the biggest problems for aspies. Others' feelings, motivations, hidden agendas, interests, plans, goals are a mystery to us, we lack the intuition to capture them, we lack the antennae to tune into them. This is not to be confused with lacking compassion. Once I know wha...

I'd say the guy who wrote this is miserable. Fancy being so miserable that you dedicate large chunks of your time and energy producing such rubbish. velodog is right, a person like this thrives on the attention. It's okay for you to be angry, but don't waste too much of your energy on this. Helen

That's a very good video. I wish I had the equipment to make a video. The manual to my digital camera says that I can make videos with it. I don't know how they would turn out, though. My camera has a video function on it. The videos in my signature were made with this camera ... not the greatest q...

I am an NT Mum married to an Aspie with 3 sons (2 diagnosed Asperger's). I love all the comments from Mum's about being in therapy! Add me to the list! I started therapy with my sons' psychologist about 9 months ago. Bye bye to the depression I had been suffering for years. I'm off anti-depressants ...

It's officially an award winning film ..... number 78 most watched Australian film today! I had fun making it. My 8 year old spent a lot of time on my lap looking at the photos ... he's thinks Labpet is fantastic. He dreams of getting to hang out in her lab. Also, he thinks Labpet is pretty. I must ...

My husband was in denial for a long time after 2 of our 3 sons were diagnosed with Asperger's. I found this website helpful. If you scroll down to the part that starts 'for all dads' the author of the website talks about denial in dads http://www.aspiedad.com/about_being_an_aspiedad.htm After my hus...
