Aimless - so your conclusion then is that people who are not "good partner material" are not able to be loved for who they are? Then what sort of flaws are overlookable and what are not? You use the example of overweight or messy - those are overlookable flaws then? Can you give some more examples o...

Having someone who has felt similar pain but is unwilling to allow you to wallow in it seems the most ideal solution.

This sentence is intriguing to me. Can you please expand on this idea? How does one go about "not allowing you to wallow in pain" ?

So I've been thinking lately on the reality vrs idealism of the claim that some people make that their partners accept them as they are. I've heard from many sources that it takes a lot of change and compromise to make a relationship work. Doesn't that contradict the idea of loving someone the way t...

I posted a while ago about "corn syrup solids" being in my Planters peanuts. Well I've got a new container of Planters and they've just one-upped themselves. The "ingredients" in these "dry-roasted peanuts" include: sugar, monosodium glutamate, gelatin, yeast, corn syrup solids, paprika, onion and g...

^ Welcome back! It's kind of ironic... I've spent my time since my move to California without forming any social bonds or making any friends and was much happier that way. Now, however, I find myself in a situation where a family member or a close friend would be an extremely useful thing to have an...

Yes, definitely! I am really only starting to recognize how much the changing of the seasons affect me. I feel infinitely happier and more peaceful when the weather is summery. It has been in the 80's here the past few days and I feel soooo much happier than I have the past few months. I'm not sure ...

MommyJones, you sound a lot like me. In my first marriage I was the one doing all the compromise and as a general rule I would rather hurt myself than hurt others. The first marriage blew up because I got very bitter and resentful and now I am in a second marriage. My new husband is great but can be...

I personally love debating. There's a difference between it and fighting, though.

there is for me anyway :? many people seem to disagree with me on that

I used to feel the same way and I never understood why couples fight or what they fought about. I've been married twice and fought frequently with both of them :? It's not intentional, it just happens when one person does something that upsets the other person and the other person may feel justified...

That's what they say. I've never understood why before. I've always thought that no matter what came up, its workable if two people really love eachother. But I'm starting to find out that there are just some things that can't change and you need to take time to find them before it's too late. I've ...

I agree with the MyFutureSelfnMe. I've often lamented the fact that the law favors pedestrians because people are so self-important. They will walk right out in front of you in a parking lot because they think to themselves "he won't hit me" sometimes I *want* to hit a few pedestrians just to remove...

I confess that I now understand why people date for a long time before getting serious.
