Monsters Episode 23 Mannikins of Horror

I like the idea that this dude in an insane asylum, who sounds off his rocker, is actually a genius. Creating anatomically perfect figures, that even have tiny internal organs, is cool too. The other characters aren't great but it's passable for the "mannikins".

Episode 24 La Strega

The episode is somewhat convoluted and overly twisty... but the couple mostly works. Maybe it has more to do with Rob Morrow and Linda Blair in the roles. Or me liking witchy romances.

Sadly season 2 and 3 aren't available on streaming. I might get lucky and find the DVD at a reasonable price someday.

Elsbeth (2024) on Paramount+

Episodes 1-3

I like this show.

Elsbeth is a happy, sunny lawyer who is tired defending clients that she can tell are guilty, so she gets a job shadowing the New York police to help them cut down on wrongful arrests. She is also good spotting evidence. She is also working for someone on the Federal level to investigate corruption (big story arc). She is not from New York.

The main character, Elsbeth, is a bit like Lt. Columbo (Columbo), or Jessica Fletcher (Murder, She Wrote), although she appears to be more Mrs. King from Scarecrow and Mrs. King. I just realized that. Her personality is a LOT like Mrs. King, but without the kids or the dead husband. That might be why I like the show.

7:27 pm (same day)
Just finished episodes 4 - 5.
When I typed that Elsbeth reminded me of Mrs. King, I had no idea that the show was created by Robert and Michelle King. So just to be clear, she is not the Mrs. King I was referring too. Until today, I had no idea who Robert and Michelle King were. I have not watched any of their other shows.

Last night we finished watching our way through Miss Scarlet & the Duke Season 2:

This is a TV show genre my bride enjoys greatly. With few exceptions, I'm not too fond of them.

This is a rare exception. Good stuff!

It is good! It is good! RECOMMENDED It is good!

The general concept is that, when her father dies, Eliza Scarlet inherits his private detective business...becoming Victorian London's first female detective. London is not ready for it!

Coronation Street

Episodes from the second half of June 1993. Mike Baldwin is having all sorts of problems as the police investigate various irregularities at his garage business MVB Motors, including the theft of his Jaguar by one of his mechanics, Doug Murray: I think Mike will soon be thinking of closing down the garage, as it's proving to be more trouble than it's worth.

Reg Holdsworth, manager of the Bettabuy supermarket, is outmanoeuvred by his area manager Brendan Scott in the race to buy the corner shop from Alf Roberts, a contest that proves to have unexpected consequences for both parties. New arrival Denise Osborne, owner of a hairdressing salon, starts a relationship with local businessman Hanif Ruparell.

Mystery Science Theater 3000 (1997)

Season 8, episode 12 - The Incredibly Strange Creatures Who Stopped Living and Became Mixed-Up Zombies

When I last left off, I could not find my DVD for this film. It is likely sitting under "something" in my home, somewhere, along with several other MST3K DVD. Note: They are in their containers. After all, I'm not a barbarian.

And then...

Samurai X (1999) on DVD

Act 1 and Act 2 - Trust
Act 3 and Act 4 - Betrayal
Maybe my favorite anime.

There is a early morning cartoon show on Me TV called Toon in with Me. On Valentines day, they showed The Stupid Cupid. Elmer Fudd as Cupid who shoots a love arrow at anything that moves. Matching up pairs regardless of species or gender. I enjoyed it.

The Uncanny Counter (2020) on Netflix

Season 1, episodes 1 through 3

A teen, who lost his parents when he was very young in a car accident with a drunk driver. It left him in a coma for nearly two months, and crippled his right leg.

He is selected to join a group called counters. Each counter has exceptional strength and their natural sensitivity provides them with a unique skill. They catch evil spirits, and release the spirits of the people the possessed person killed, and escort them to the afterlife. The evil spirit is sent to a place of darkness where they gathered up by writhing beings coming out of a black muck.

Very enjoyable so far. The visuals, imagery, and affects are very nice.

One of the counters is played by actor Yeom Hey-ran. I've seen her in several series. The Glory, Recalled, and Lawless Lawyer. She is also in Mystic Pop-up Bar, which is in one of my streaming lists.

Another counter is played by Kim Sejeong. I've seen her in Business Proposal.

Episode 4 of Baby Reindeer.

I really enjoyed the first three episodes of this and i thought i had a handle on where it was going but this episode took a hard left turn into something very dark and disturbing and, for me, for want of a better word, triggering. It wasn't bad, it was a pretty brave piece of TV, but it wasn't what i needed this evening.
