I heard about it too, but when I was watching the movie, I did not notice anything indicating that Gaston's sidekick LeFou was gay.

Overall, the movie was amazing, despite some intense scenes, with great performances by the cast. The musical numbers were perfect and well-choreographed.

Also, it was rumored that there was supposed to have been a post-credits scene in the remake where Gaston {who gets killed in both the 1991 and 2017 versions} appears to Belle in a dream where he tries to apologize for his behavior. Belle refuses to accept his apology and in turn, Gaston pleads with The Beast so he can accept the fact that he can't be with Belle. The Beast then tells Gaston that he should have been more considerate of Belle's feelings.
