It will be merged with Warner Bros. Animation be called just that.

Cartoon Network and Nickelodeon were two really big parts of my childhood.

What will happen to the Adult Swim brand?

Adult Swim is under Warner Bros. after they acquired Cartoon Network. Specifically, Warner Bros. Discovery U.S. Networks Group.

It does feel like that, but in this day and age, it's the way of the world.

We have come full circle. When Film studios were first formed, they were huge monopolies that were then competing with TV and Independent studios that began to form, following the decline of The Hays Code.

Now, such "Indie" companies are being acquired by the larger bigger studios again, due to collective financial difficulties of recent, thus completing this cycle.

Whether history repeats itself or not has yet to be seen.

Adult Swim posted their response on social media.

"Anxiety is a b***h."

Ain't that the truth.

Does this mean that Adult Swim and indie films are going away?

The name of Adult Swim will stay.

As for indie films, they will be pummeled further into the corner where they're only viewed by a handful of people, or acquired by a larger company and either promoted, or simply used a calling card or a springboard for the indie filmmaker/production to create something bigger and more marketable.

I just learned that the Cartoon Network Channel is staying.

Another sigh of relief.

The Cartoon Network channel is staying bc you can't just pull the plug on a big cable channel like that. There are contracts with cable and satellite companies that have to be considered.

However, the writing is definitely on the wall. The man in charge, Zaslav, straight-up does not care about art and entertainment unless it's made as cheaply as possible (see: reality television, which Discovery's brands are known for).

Cartoon Network being killed would be a great shame, culturally.
