Does kids crater have to be right above the LGBT section?

No offense, but having the kids section right above it seems a little... weird? On the other hand, I don't know where it would fit better, so maybe I'm just being weird myself. Comments?

The OP may be focusing only on the sexual aspect of LGBT life, which is a mistake that a lot of people make. They think it's only about sex, and I can see how some people would feel creeped out if the kids section were right next to a section that they perceive is all about sex. The fact that the kids can't get into it should be enough to ease anyones mind about a kid reading something sexual, although there is much more sexual content in the Adult section.

If I have correctly guessed the reason why the OP doesn't like the placement of the subforums side by side, I would ask if he would object to the kids section being beside Love and Dating. I would imagine that relationships, being in love, falling in love, dating, commitment to each other as a couple are actually more important in LGBT life than sex, just as they are in straight folks life.

I do hope that the OP was squicked because of any possible sexual content than because if there is, it may be LGBT content. I think that bigotry against people for their sexual orientation and gender issues is very outdated and wrong. Again, I hope it was only possible sexual content that bothered the OP, and not any specific orientation.

This particular poster would have loved to find a resource like LGBT when he was... a little gay kid.

Yes it's only in reference to potential sexual content, as you mentioned, but as you also stated, the other adult sections are just as loaded with that as well, which i agree on and is why i could not come up with a better placement idea. I almost wish the kids crater was on a whole different section of its own, with juvenile maybe. But once again, any kid that wants to could falsify their account info and not just here but anywhere on the net. It's scary what kids have instant access to these days. I guess I'm naive. Wrong planet is the least of their worries. Please disregard. And thanks for your input.

If a kid has the idea and knowledge to create a fake account to access nonpornographic information about sexuality, don't you think they probably should get the information? If they were just curious and wanted to giggle then they would look at the National Geographic magazines and look up dirty words in the dictionary like we did when I was a kid, or whatever the equivilant of that particular fact finding mission is nowdays. I doubt they would seek out a site with a variety of information related to sexuality. They could get all the free porn they wanted by figuring out their Dad's password, which is probably what most of them do. Or climbing up on the vanity in the bathroom and sneaking one of their Dad's nudie magazines that he hides up there and then taking it to school, like my oldest did in 8th grade.

DH found a new hiding place after that.

Information seeking and arousal seeking are two different things. Some of the sexual topics here are sort of lewd, some are threads of ongoing dirty humor, but many are actual concerns of people of all orientations, including aesexual. There are topics relating to sex and health, sex and emotional needs, sex and love, and yes even basic sex 101. No kid worth his salt is going to spend time going through all those to find one or two sentences to give them something to think about in the bathroom. Plus, we don't even have pictures. Neither the LGBT section nor the Adult section is really "that" kind of material.

If I was a parent who didn't feel comfortable answering my kids questions about sex, and one of them really needed an asnwer, I'd much rather them find it here than from "Barely Legal" or some kid in the next grade. I think that the topics here would encourage a kid to be more responsible and give it a lot more consideration (no, not that kind) than they would find anywhere else, when they had a serious question or concern.

Well is the intended poster that remark was aimed at gay? If so then I'm missing something here and take back my comment and apologize, if not then I stand by defending what I've said.....
