Some people were thinking it might be a good idea to create some some resource stickies for people in imminent distress or at risk of suicide in the Haven, like suicide hotline phone numbers for example. If you were one of those people or feel you'd like to contribute, post your ideas along with direct information here for moderators to consider. (or send it as a PM if that makes you more comfortable)

Yes that would be a good idea.

Slightly off-topic:

It would also be a good idea to sticky this thread too, given that it has far more posts than any other sticky thread in the Haven.

I posted suicide hotline numbers in a previous thread: “There are many reasons to stay alive” which is a Haven thread.

---------------

There are national suicide hotlines. For most countries.

And there are local ones, too. State, provincial, city, county, regional, etc.

And there are resources not directly related to suicide—but to mental health in general.

Our objective is to help a person feeling alone.....know that he/she/they is not alone.

National Suicide Hotline US: 1-800-273-8255

For UK: 116 123 -- Samaritans

For Germany: 0800 1110 111
0800 1110 222

Sweden: 46317112400

Norway: 4781533300

Canada: 1-833-456-4566

Australia 13 11 14, or dial 000 if your life is threatened.

If anybody wants info for another country, just ask. I would say those numbers are a "start."

Done. I can't think why this wasn't done ages ago.

Would resources for members who want to help the person who feels suicidal, also be helpful? I know I don't usually know what to say in those situations.

If so, I found this and it seems very comprehensive:
