I have a $100 gift certificate for future shop, and I think I am getting a new game in a few weeks. I have a PS2 and a PC. I was thinking maybe S.T.A.L.K.E.R. for PC, or maybe Final Fantasy 12 for ps2 (never been a big RPG fan, but I hear the game is good). Any recommendations?

FFXII is hard, and I don't reccomend it.

If you aren't a RPG fan, I don't think FFXII could be a good option.

S.T.A.L.K.E.R.? I haven't heard about it :?

What game genres do you like?

I usually play FPS, RTS, and action/adventure type games. Right now I am playing counter strike and warhammer 40k for PC. I was thinking maybe command and conquer 3, but I dunno if I have time for 3 different RTS games at once (I already bought 2 in the last 6 or 7 months). BTW, here is stalker review for u samurai, it looks good stalker

The demo for Chris Taylor's Supreme Commander is lush, but again it would be a case of too much rts.

FFXII is a very good game but if you´ve barely ever played an RPG, it´s not a good game to start since it´s quite complicated. I can´t say much about S.T.A.L.K.E.R since I haven´t even heard about it before I red this thread. Have you played Resident evil 4 yet? If you haven´t, it´s a good purchase since it´s on platinum now.

Yes RE 4 is an amazing game... one of the best for sure.

If you play RTS's

Supreme Commander (make sure you have a Athlon X2 or Core 2 Duo and a 8800 grafx card because this game need's a uber-system)
Command & Conquer 3 Tiberium Wars.
Medieval 2 or Rome Total War.

*shakes fist*! ! Your finals are finishing? My [second] finals begin this September! I suggest STALKER though; if you have a capable PC for it.

Shut up Quatermass. I'm not a FF veteran like you. I prefer the older FF games, they rule.

At least the characters in 8 are believable, unlike 12's losers.

It's meant to be more of a fantasy. Besides, it's like the characterisation is more spread out. The main characters all get equal development (how much development does Selphie or Zell get, seriously?) in XII. However, Squall, Rinoa, Quistis and Irvine do get a lot of development in VIII, but you haven't played XII long enough, or know enough to make such a judgement.

How much of VIII have you played? Up to the end?
