Given Orwell's vicious, vegan hating, anti-feminist attacks against you, perhaps it would be in your rational self-interest to conduct an "anyone but Orwell" campaign?

I've yet to see such, though I highly doubt he attacked me personally. Goodness knows I've railed against knee-jerk "free market" proponents enough without ever even noticing which poster I'm addressing. Maybe I should have instead concentrated on those who might lecture me on my "rational self-interest"?

Strident atheists can we seriously have such an opportunistic and insensitive brute representing us as our most strident atheist, all the nominations for the above mentioned brute should be withdrawn with the utmost urgency, Bethie he really cannot help himself, take the downright slanders of my good name for example, not only does he slander me but, (as AG has correctly pointed out) in his errant belief that I give credence to the hogwash that is homeopathy, he is quite prepared to inflict tortuous pain upon my person using the scientifically acknowledged placebo effect. Not only do I now call into question his suitablity to hold high office amongst us, I also call into question his supposed Christian morals. In fact I will go further and sumit that he, like AG, is in fact the spawn of, and therefore agent of, SATAN

It is in your rational self-interest to concentrate on those who might lecture you on your rational self-interest. :P

"Anti-feminist" is a bit of an overstatement against Orwell, mainly based on his assertion that the Violinist argument is used by "a heartless and cruel section of the Pro-Choice movement".

While AG is probably a LaVeyan Satanist (Satan doesn't exist, by the way), it's safer to say the Orwell is in the pay of Fred Phelps. Just witness his STRIDENT defense of the Phelp's family's right to deliberately put their children in harms way.

On a very serious note, I had forgotten how much fun can be had on this forum, thanks M_P, laughing aloud

Things are always funny with morbid humour.

I do wish there were more fourth party candidates actively campaigning, though, as the existing, actively campaigning, competition is a piece of cake! 8) :P

I would agree that it's a heartless and cruel attempt at analogy in that Thompson equivocates a widely-revered, talented and sentient being with an actual life to lose (in more than the biological sense) with the fetus, thereby unwittingly lending a fair bit of legitimacy to abortion opponents.

That being said, hearing secondhand what supposedly-incendiary things so-and-so supposedly said makes me feel as though I'm being deliberately-baited, and that makes me a sad panda.

Well, it didn't seem directed at you, Orwell was making a general comment on sections of the Pro-Choice movement (as well as a criticism of social darwinism):

Orwell wrote:
I find the juxtaposition of social Darwinist and pro-life views in the same individual very interesting. There is no plausible way of reconciling these two stances, as the reasoning of the social Darwinist is identical to that of the most extreme and callous pro-choice advocates. The cognitive dissonance must be tremendous.

Inuyasha wrote:
If we are people, then who owns the vagina is irrelevant, we're talking about killing another human being.

But do you have any legal claim on the life, liberty, and property of another person? Even if the only way for you to survive is to take from someone else who is not willing to give to you?

I have mentioned before that, though the pro-life and pro-choice sides normally talk past each other by starting on different assumptions, an extreme group within the pro-choice side has attempted to argue on the pro-lifers' terms by arguing that, even if the fetus is a legal person, it has no right to impose on the woman. The cruel irony is that so many pro-lifers would completely agree with this reasoning if applied to any born human being, as they believe it is completely justifiable to let people die in the streets to avoid having to pay a few extra cents in taxes.

Well sadly humans have a very short memory, I could pull up quite a few posts where I have crossed swords with a certain lanky midwest man of irish decent, I even recall AG describing my STRIDENT stance towards said lanky Irishman as aggressive   , shame on him

Orwell is a self-hating Midwesterner. He doesn't understand the virtues of snow.
