Your inaccuracy might have been the rifle itself. I doubt summer camp firearms are "zeroed in" very well.

He was bragging about the gun--but I think he was also a little paranoid. He thought people were out to get him....

I think I have met him, too! There are a few firearm owners who become quite mysterious when the topic shifts to their special interests.

Charles Bronson, though---I've always found him a little grim.

Many actors don't know how to handle firearms. Others, like Bruce Willis and Angelina Jolie actually own and know how to shoot firearms.

I believe that kraftiekortie really does respect the Second Amendment and the opinions of others. He isn't a cheerleader for it, but he doesn't undermine it either. He probably doesn't need to be to give those of us who are advocates some free range. That is how I felt about the matter until 2001 and read Jonathan Rausch's Salon commentary about "Pink pistols" ( http://www.salon.com/2000/03/14/pistol ). For me, it was a whole new understanding of how the amendment had relevance to today's problem of violent hate crimes. I was hooked and have been an advocate since then.

Then what about this?

I've known people who cannot "see the forest for the trees" if they feel their "gun rights" are being violated. This supersedes all else. Weapons which are not specifically used for hunting, like semi-automatic/automatic weapons, are quite dangerous when placed in the wrong hands.

I believe in the Second Amendment, the right to bear arms to defend one's self. But if somebody tells me that semi-automatic/automatic weapons are dangerous and should be banned, then I would concede this, and settle for plain ole rifles when I go out hunting.

I don't believe the banning of dangerous weapons is a violation of one's "gun rights."

posting.php?mode=quote&f=20&p=6650280

You should know by now that a "but" after "I beleive in the 2nd amendment" doesnt fly.
Then as expected the semiautophobia follows.
What more do you need?

I see these statements as under-informed, that's all.

I don't buy it for a minute.

TO BE crystal clear I AM

FOR second amendment gun RIGHTS;

but not runaway rights.

The American legal system; including the judicial, executive
and administrative branch is versed well enough in
constitutional LAW;
to get the balance of
rights and regulations
figured out;
without either
my help or THE HELP
OF anyone else here.

And also to be clear; although
I am currently practiced and
gifted enough to be
'strong as Lion'
in both
'bark
and bite';
I also
know what
iT feels like to
be so incredibly
weak, I cannot make
it to a shower without
my wife's help to bathe;
but of course at that point;
living is not my number one
priority; surviving is a drudgery
of dragging my dead alive body
for the next second of unimaginable
physical pain in life. So anyway; as
a once vulnerable individual; I for one;
can certainly understand the
need to accommodate
that fear with tools
of 'minimal destruction';
but hell no; 'mass destruction'
is not necessary in any
reasonable
state
of mind;
so regulations
are both prudent
and necessary for
GUN CONTROL ALWAYS;
NOW IN A CIVILIZED
SOCIETY;
AS
IS FOR
NOW..:)

THIS ain't
cowboy
shows or
the East
wood wild
west;
THIS IS THE
REAL DEAL; FREE
AMERICAN LIFE..:)

WITH APPROPRIATE
RULES AND REGULATIONS
THAT CHANGE WITH
TIME; AKA LAWS;
AS ascribed by
the STILL GREAT
American
SYSTEM
AS
IS
NOW..:)

i can't stand how you post. so I can't read it. i try but ugh. but what I gather you're generally anti gun. but thats from reading proably 1/4 your posts.

really if you all dont' care about guns why are you reading this thread.

I avoid reading the thousands of anti christian threads. so it is possible to resist temptation. I must point out if the antis who dont' care about guns stopped posting in gun control threads then there wouldnt' be threads. me, rapter and dox are not likely to go back in forth debating it alone. I quite imagin it would go like this

rapter:boo gun control sucks
me: yep
dox: techinical way of saying yep.

we do care about guns, quite a lot. so that explains our posting. same as if you had an anti gay thread, pretty sure the gay rights people would be all over that. but apparelty gay is a right but to many gun owners are not a right and so not protected. its not ok to attack gays or blacks, but its fine to attack gun owners all day every day. I hope one day this nation will be wise enough to acknowledge gun owners as protected group also. just because people are different doesn't' make them wrong.

Dude, it's

called freedom of expression.

Welcome to the 21st century;

Different strokes for different folks;
I can read backwards and forwards
and dance backwards and forwards;
that makes me special; sorry if
you cannot glide
with me on that;
and that's
perfectly
fine with me.

Not often people online
or in real life can truly
keep up with me;
all my life; so I'm
more than used to
it; as that is my unique
form of Autism; super
expression; not
robot
like
expression..:)

Like I said; different strokes and all of that...

I like robots OK too; boring; but easy to
understand; complicated is more fun for me;
personal preferences; you know..:)

But since you just
stated a falsehood;
that I am anti-gun;
LET me make it perfectly CLEAR;
IN BOLD LETTERS ONCE AGAIN.

I AM PRO-GUN; GET IT NOW;
JUST 'CAUSE I DON'T LIKE
CERTAIN FREEDOMS FOR
ME; DOES NOT MEAN I DO
NOT RESPECT AND
ALLOW THOSE FREEDOMS
FOR OTHER FOLKS; WITH
DUE RATIONALITY OF COURSE;
AS listed in the constitution;
Freedom of Expression is the
greatest CONSTITUTIONAL FREEDOM;
and truly guns are freedom of
expression for some folks;
SO that ticks two first
amendment
rights for me;
1 and 2;
in just
the right
spot;

SO YEAH;
GO GUNS AND
WEIRD A** WRITING..:)

Hell; I'll even ignore a
spelling error; I ain't
no grammar and
spelling NAZI;
either..:)

Only the tRuly
free and brave
survive WELL, friend..:)

That part never
changes...:)

Others suffer
there own actions
and consequences..:)

That's life in
nutshell
or
NOT..:)

Enjoy the first Amendment while you can, Mr. A, cause I think we're going to lose it pretty soon.

Pardon me, Mr. oo. I didn't mean to say anything inappropriate. I was just talking about what is going on with free speech at this moment in time. I don't want to say something to get the thread closed.

You only posted twice, right? Yours are fine from what I read. I just want to be sure everyone stays friendly and doesn't resort to belittling anyone just for their opinions because I like my threads and feel protective of them :lol: and I have seen too many threads closed :(

LOL....I think Ana forgives you :wink:

She's a reasonable woman.

And you're pretty okay, too!
