The return of segregation:

University turns frat into 'safe space for black students'

After a fraternity was permanently suspended last year, students have been demanding that Washington University in St. Louis turn the vacated house into a "safe space for black students."

Students began agitating for the "Black House Movement" in 2016, and immediately began celebrating on social media when the university announced this week that it had accepted the proposal.

Following the permanent suspension of a Washington University in St. Louis (WUSTL) fraternity, the school is converting the newly-vacant fraternity house into a “safe space for black students.” ...

Shortly thereafter, Matthew Wallace, a staff writer for the online student publication Student Life, penned an op-ed titled, “Turn fraternity housing over to minorities and women.”

“These ‘brotherhoods’ have done nothing but occupy valuable space and make the University feel unsafe for many,” Wallace asserted, arguing that “In order to remediate the damage they have caused, Washington University should convert fraternity housing into living spaces for minorities and women.”

Naming several prominent universities with “spaces for students of color,” Wallace advocated that WUSTL take the “bold and necessary step in standing up to the white, male supremacy that is fraternities and giving space to minorities and women.”

In order to remediate the damage, do more damage.

Discrimination in the name of campus diversity is not acceptable

The concept of “diversity” has such a lovely ring to it, conjuring up romantic notions of being forward-thinking and living harmoniously in society. But what if diversity is being used as a way to justify discrimination?

On April 4, documents obtained by a group suing Harvard University demonstrated that the university’s admissions process has been discriminating against Asian applicants for decades.

As discussed in a complaint filed by 64 Asian-American organizations in 2015, affirmative action requires the SAT scores of Asian applicants to be hundreds of points higher than applicants from other ethnic backgrounds. It has reached a point where mixed-raced Asian applicants will choose to hide their Asian heritage when they apply to Ivy League schools.

Professor found guilty of spraying fake blood at NRA lobbyist's home

A sociology professor from Nebraska who was accused of spraying fake blood on the steps of a National Rifle Association lobbyist's home in January was convicted Monday of misdemeanor destruction of property.

Patricia Hill, a University of Nebraska-Lincoln faculty member, was ordered to pay a $500 fine and stay away from lobbyist Chris Cox after she vandalized his home in Alexandria, Va.

She already had a temporary restraining order that prohibits her from going near Cox’s wife’s business or the NRA offices in Virginia and Washington, D.C.

The court also issued Hill a warrant for an additional vandalism charge regarding a similar incident in October.

White prof banned from restaurant for profanity-laced rant against white children

A New Jersey professor said Thursday that he “officially” “now hate[s] white people” in a Facebook post that was subsequently deleted.

James Livingston, the Rutgers University history professor who made the remarks, proceeded to detail “little Caucasian a**holes” that annoyed him at a restaurant.

“OK, officially, I now hate white people,” Livingston said. “I am a white people [sic], for God’s sake, but can we keep them — us — us out of my neighborhood? I just went to Harlem Shake on 124 and Lenox for a Classic burger to go, that would [be] my dinner, and the place is overrun with little Caucasian a**holes who know their parents will approve of anything they do.”

“Slide around the floor, you little s**thead, sing loudly, you moron,” he continued. “Do what you want, nobody here is gonna restrict your right to be white.”

Now you know why the only restaurants I frequent are ones with drive through windows. Too many are the times I cursed out the parents and kicked the living daylights out of the little brats. I don’t care what race you are: if you can’t instill discipline in your brats (preferably by corporal punishment), then stay the hell home!

Harvard Medical School ashamed of white male department heads

Harvard Medical School has removed 31 portraits of its former department heads from a lecture hall because all of the individuals are men, and 30 of them are white.

Dr. Betsy Nabel, the hospital’s president, said she has been considering the move for several years, concerned that the lack of diversity might upset women and minorities who are training to become doctors.

Get Woke, Go Broke. (Maintaining a leftist agenda is expensive.)

How much are social justice warriors costing their colleges?

It has become abundantly clear in recent years that becoming a Social Justice Warrior (SJW) is bad for your health. But recent developments in north America suggest that it is also very bad for your bottom line.

It is now three years since the University of Missouri underwent a prominent bout of SJW-itis. On that occasion various students at the university demanded that the college President should resign, acknowledge his ‘white male privilege’ and henceforth organise both faculty and staff along strictly racialist lines. Instead of telling these students who the grown-ups were, and where to go, the university authorities repeatedly bowed to radical student pressure. During the ensuing protests, reporters were harassed by students and university employees. And in an incident that was soon seen around the world, assistant professor, Melissa Click memorably called for ‘some muscle over here’ to help her physically eject a reporter who was trying to report on the student and faculty temper-tantrum.

Clearly after seeing these scenes a lot of parents in the state of Missouri decided that it wasn’t worth re-mortgaging the house in order to make their children dumber. And so over the last two years the University of Missouri lost a third of its freshmen. It has had to shut down a number of dorms and has already had to lay off dozens of employees, with more redundancies likely to come. It turned out that the University of Missouri did indeed need some muscle, and that it was required to carry out the belongings of staff they were forced to let go.

Fast-forward to the spring of last year and it was another American campus – Evergreen State College – that was making international news. This was the campus that was meant to have a day when all white people were ordered off the university’s property, ostensibly to make some point about historic racism. Recognising that ordering people where to go based on skin-pigmentation might be said to be the epitome of racism, one left-wing professor – Bret Weinstein – refused to comply with the demands of the racial segregationists. As a result both he and his wife were forced to retreat from the campus for their own safety. While students rampaged, faculty and officials remained silent or acquiesced in the intimidation of the couple. So the first glimpse of Evergreen for most of the world was of a place where the most thuggish students could dictate whatever rules they wanted to supine college authorities who were begging the students for mercy (and on one memorable occasion begging permission to use the bathroom). Weinstein and his wife – who were among the most popular and respected professors at Evergreen – subsequently agreed to a settlement and left the employ of the university.

But yet again it turns out that advertising to the world that you believe in racial segregation and obedience to the loudest common denominator turns out not to be good for business. In the wake of the Weinstein affair there has already been a 5 per cent enrolment decrease at Evergreen in the current academic year. And the university authorities are now predicting a further fall in enrolment of almost 20 per cent in their 2018/19 intake....

“‘We practice hard-line, leftist indoctrination’ seems to have failed as a marketing strategy.”

Indeed.

Research? We don't need no steenkin' research.

UW science school dismisses science on sex differences

-The University of Washington School of Computer Science rushed to dismiss an article by one of its professors arguing that sex differences account for the fact that women are less likely to pursue computer science degrees.
-School officials were unable to provide any specific rebuttals to Stuart Reges' research, even declaring that "the source data used in the piece is not our concern."
-Reges blasted the unscientific approach, asserting that school officials "decided based on ideology, not science, that they disagree with my conclusions

The University of Washington School of Computer Science is dismissing the science behind sex differences after a professor argued that men and women are different.

The controversy began on June 19, when UW-Seattle Professor Stuart Reges argued in an essay for Quillette that women are less likely to pursue computer science degrees due to sex differences in career preferences, as well as verbal and mathematical reasoning.

"When you're sure you know the right answer before you even look at evidence to the contrary, you cease to be a scientist."

“If men and women are different, then we should expect them to make different choices,” Reges wrote, going on to summarize the findings of a University of Pittsburgh study, a study published by the National Academy of Science, and one from Leeds Beckett University.

These studies discovered, respectively, that women have broader academic interests due to their higher verbal ability, that women are choosing not to enter STEM fields, and that countries with the most gender equality have the least women entering STEM.

Reges concluded that “Women can code, but often they don’t want to. We will never reach gender parity,” though he did concede during an interview with Campus Reform that parity might be reached in the case of Orwellian social engineering.

Four days after the article was published, UW School of Science Director Hank Levy emailed the campus to say that "We disagree with the conclusions drawn in the article."

When reached by Campus Reform, however, Levy would not say whether he had actually read Reges’ article, nor whether he reviewed the research Reges cited within. Spokeswoman Kristin Osborn replied on his behalf, and similarly declined to clarify if the research had been reviewed before it was condemned.

Who knew women were being oppressed by hot-wings. :D

Feminist scholar slams hot-wing-eating show for ‘inequitable gender hierarchies’

Society makes women eat ‘dainty, light, and sweet’

Have you ever watched two men devour spicy chicken wings and been so affected by the absence of women that you wrote an academic paper about it?

If not, then you’re not as enlightened as the University of Tulsa’s Emily J.H. Contois.

The professor of media studies apparently sees toxic masculinity at work in the popular YouTube show Hot Ones, whose host and celebrity guest each eat a plate of hot wings “dressed with hot sauces of increasing intensity.”

Her research “examines how media representations of food, cooking, and dieting construct and negotiate masculinities in our current historical moment,” and Contois’s paper in Feminist Media Studies sees dark forces at work in the three-year-old web series produced by First We Feast:

"In all that time, only eleven women had been solo guests on the show, a stark underrepresentation that piqued my academic interest. … My analysis of Hot Ones informs feminist media studies, as it reveals how this YouTube show creates, maintains, and manipulates inequitable gender hierarchies through the interrelated performances of gender, food consumption, and celebrity."
