This is basically just an announcement to the pious on these boards:

Taking into consideration my vocal amusement of the "Jesus Christ" poster and my posting of a link to a comic book with God as the protagonist, among other things, I feel I just should say that I don't mean to offend. I joke around a lot, partly out of my own selfish amusement and partly because of some silly obligation to "lighten the mood" (especially since we average about two or three "abortion" or "YOUR GOD IS TEH DED" threads a day), but I don't mean any harm. I am not religious, but I respect the beliefs of those who are and I appreciate them talking to me on these boards. As I said, I know I joke around at times, but I genuinely mean no harm and I apologize if anyone was the least bit offended.

Just thought I would clarify,
Phagocyte

That you would make such a post as this, probably indicates that you are not among those who should.

I'm probably leaving here soon, so I'd like to do so on good terms. Take care Phagocyte, GreenBlue, Anubis, AG, Orwell, Slowmutant, and all the rest. Hope I'll stay, but now I'm uncertain.

I just wanted to make sure. Being that I really have no beliefs, only a vague sort of agnosticism to which I have no emotional attachment, it occurred to me that I shouldn't be as flip with other people's religious/spiritual/philosophical views as I am with mine.

I would like to say something similar but a bit more dry with less sympathy:

z0rp's Message to Religious People of WrongPlanet wrote:
Dear Religious of WrongPlanet (Mostly Christians),

I do not intend to do any harm to you, and if you perceive me talking against what you believe as harming you then tough. I don't mean to hurt you, my sense of humor that I and a few other people on the site share at times can bring about offense to you unintentionally. If someone makes a thread that's obviously intended as a joke (for example the Jesus Christ thread, where you know the dude whoever he was, was not literately intending to pretend to be Jesus and rewrite the bible) you don't need to become extremely defensive and immediately report the account to the moderators. It's similar to the way muslims seem to always become offended when criticized or when their prophet is used by non-muslims so they take action to either make the content become removed or find a way to gain revenge on the person who did the act. I could understand if the thread was flat out bashing you guys but it wasn't from what I could see. Let's just try to be a bit less hasty when people are doing something for the intention of bringing laughter and not hurt.

mmmk?

EDIT:

Why would you leave? A lot of people are going to miss you, including myself. :(

Don't!

You would be missed. ( PS: As is, extraordinarily enough, Ragtime, and others who contributed so regularly and passionately at one period ).

You play an important role around here. Though your way may be hard, WP needs to anchor both ends of the belief spectrum.

A small quote from a song that I hope sums it up:

I'm the left eye
you're the right
Would it not be madness to fight
We come one

Calling all those who Believe It or Not topic

Mutant and Parakeet, I am certainly glad you are here, as you are more complex than your Christian beliefs.

Different points of view, valid and well articulated, are welcome on WP.

Thank you for your contributions.

In my time zone, it is today September 11, 2008, and seven years since the terror attacks. Freedom is all about diversity, and its expression in language. Here at WP we have that freedom, and we would most certainly not enjoy this privilege in many parts of this planet.

For me, WP is a wondrously willing and populous planet and becomes like a new site everyday with all the different opinions; it is also a learning tool as well as a helpsite. :D
