I feel badly for her. She was only 27, which is actually still very, very young in the grand scheme of life, and he gave her things that would affect the rest of her life and other partners.

Yes and when combined with drug induced psychosis it probably made her more paranoid about the STD Carrey gave her.

Shades of Charlie Sheen in terms of treating women as receptacles and not being truthful (although Sheen was worse in hiding his HIV status)
