It seemed to me that he said it as though he still believed it, and that facts he had seen proved it. By saying it was not harmful, we were lying (or at least wrong), and that Aspies are typically rational, fact based. Therefore, we were not acting like Aspies.
But he still seemed to believe that soda was harmful.

No, he meant to demonstrate that he had pulled the wool over your eyes with a transparent BS story! But that is only the beginning of the point he hoped to drive home. What was that?

I disagree.

That is one of the better examples of irony that I have encountered.

Yes, you're right, aspies generally do have rational minds, and do not often think based upon emotion. Which is why most of us don't consider moderate soda consumption to be significantly dangerous for otherwise healthy people. And it's also why we certainly don't think that drinking soda somehow means that you want kids to "due a painful death".

You are the one who should be questioning your Asperger's diagnosis. Judging by your posts, histronic personality disorder might be a closer match..

* Constant seeking of reassurance or approval
* Excessive dramatics with exaggerated displays of emotions
* Excessive sensitivity to criticism or disapproval
* Inappropriately seductive appearance or behavior
* Excessive concern with physical appearance
* A need to be the center of attention (self-centeredness)
* Low tolerance for frustration or delayed gratification
* Rapidly shifting emotional states that may appear shallow to others
* Opinions are easily influenced by other people, but difficult to back up with details.
* Tendency to believe that relationships are more intimate than they actually are.

And those are just the symptoms that have surfaced in one thread!

What was "AspieDannie" actually trying to tell us?

Are you folks still off barking on the scent of "AspieDannie's" red herring? Surly the point he actually intended to demonstrate by his prank, and then later explained, is far more interesting.

only on an AS forum, will you see people using the slang term, "red herring". my gosh, is this nerd city or what.

on wall street, the term red herring is used as a nickname for a company's prospectus, in which the warnings about stock ricks are printed in bold red font on the prospectus. Its just like the fine print on the back of an airline ticket, which makes you never want to fly on a plane again.

nowadays, it may mean logical fallacy or an issue of no practical use.

but anyway, just because i know this metaphor and what it means, doesnt mean i have to use it in an everyday discussion to sound smarter than i am.

:P

While pop makes you thirsty, so does cheese.

Shall we ban that too? I doubt you'll find anyone willing to.

That's how you debate or write to argue/persuade.

Oh and for the record, the U.D.O.H.R (Universla dclaration of human rights - U.K.) says that each indivual has the right to do or refrain from doing whatsoever they please as long as it is not contrary to the law.

It is healthier to drink a soda and run a mile than it is to drink a diet soda and simply sit.

AaronAgassi is under the impression that the entire thread was created as a cover story so that AspieDannie could later reveal to us that we, as Aspies, were not thinking rationally as we should, but by emotions.
As for the "full and explanatory confession", look to AspieDannie's last post.
The troll, I assume, is the topic of soda and health.

Yes, because that is exactly what "AspieDannie" stated, explicitly, in his final post.

Politically, I'm a libertarian, which basically means that adults should be allowed to do pretty much what they want as long as they don't harm others. I don't think drinks like that should be sold in school, though. It's got something dodgy about it.

So much for libertism. The people that sell in schools are adults, no? It's not really harming anyone, no?

You're a liberitian. What's wrong with those adults doing what they want?
