The terrifying scenario could become a reality as super-adaptable rats take advantage of larger mammals becoming extinct

The article had mentioned how dinosaurs had evolved from small creatures to the titans we all know after they were able to fill in the niche left by extinct animals. But that had taken millions of years, so I don't expect to see sheep sized rats any time soon.

Robert E. Howard had written a short horror/murder mystery story involving giant carnivorous grave yard rats in Texas. I just wish I could remember it's name.

I think it would be cool to have a very large rat as a pet...not sure my cats would appreciate it though.

Rats are really smart.I wouldn't want a NYC sewer rat for a pet,but some of the ones people keep for pets are pretty cool.We have field rats here, sometimes they eat birdseed under the feeder. They are always clean and healthy looking. Its funny to watch them, once I saw one get in a tussle with a chip monk. The monk won,it was hilarious to watch them jump.
Once some friends and I were in the backyard drinking ,three rats started chasing each other around this building, you could tell it was same rats going around and round, mating season I guess. But the people here freaked out, they thought it was different rats and I had an infestation :D

So what?

There are already large rats/rodents, such as the Grass Cutter in west africa. I understand they taste quite like chicken.

If they are as large as sheep they will be farmed.

I wonder, is that due to the fact that so many citizens of that state are of French descent - - and you know, the French will eat any creepy, crawly thing (I'm kidding! Please, moderators, don't punish me!).
