I thought the outrage over the mosque was stupid to begin with.

If it's the owner of the property, it's their right to do whatever they wish with the building.

I though freedom of religion was supposed to protect people's places of worship from being demolished.
How would evangelicals feel if their churches were torn down because people living nearby had been fleeced by televangelists?

OK, reality check.

1) The Mosque is two blocks away, it's not on the Ground Zero site.

2) America is supposed to have freedom to practice your religious beliefs.

3) Mosques are not like churches, they're more like community centers with a church attached.

4) NOT ALL MUSLIMS ARE RESPONSIBLE FOR 9/11 Sorry for shouting here but I know quite a few Muslims and they're good people.

Asking Americans to grasp these facts is like asking the sun to spew out butterflies and chocolate sprinkles.

This level of logic cannot be grasped by a ton of people in America.

It's okay to group people together into a stereotype, as long as they're Americans.

The article makes it sound like they want to demolish the building in order to make a bigger one, not to demolish a mosque.

Yup, they plan to make the site even bigger.

And after all, it's not like there aren't numerous historical examples of Islamic building of trophies at or near sites that they have conquered or triumphed at.

Do any of you conservatives seriously believe Muslim Americans want to build a Mosque near ground zero as a triumph over America and Christianity?

a) I'm not really a conservative in the U.S. sense.
b) Who did the Kaaba used to belong to before that Arab warlord took it for himself?
c) And as for Muslim Americans? We aren't talking about Muslim Americans as a whole; we're on about the people and the intentions behind this project.

I admit ignorance to point b), so I'm not sure of it's relevance here.
As for point c), the people involved with the so called "ground zero Mosque" have been so maligned, by the fevered imaginings of bigots that has been so constantly broadcast publicly, has become the Gospel truth in the minds of many Americans.
